Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from Joker 2 as director Todd Phillips has released two new images featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.
“Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year. Oct 2024 #Joker2,” posted Phillips on Instagram.
Joaquin Phoenix returns as Arthur Fleck where the first image reveals Arthur in his cell or padded room. The second image also features Lady Gaga which looks to take place at the courthouse and before her character, Harley Quinn, goes off the deep end herself.
Rumors offer Joker 2 may be a musical, or possibly some of the Lady Gaga parts will feature the musical aspect, but nothing official has been announced.
Female version of Joker?
Joker: Folie à Deux gets released on October 4, 2024 and Zazie Beetz is returning as Sophie Dumond.
No official plot synopsis has been released, but the term “Folie à Deux” refers to a French term for a medical condition involving “madness for two,” so it’s guessed the sequel deals with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, a female version of Joker who is just as crazy and dark as the Joaquin Phoenix version, which is suggested by set images and video.
Worth a mention is the film is also separate and a part of its own universe and not attached to the upcoming James Gunn DCU or the Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson Batman universe.
The first Joker made over a billion at the box office and was a surprise hit, so big things are expected from the sequel, too.
