James Gunn Teases Supergirl Ahead of ‘Superman’ CinemaCon Presentation

James Gunn shares a new behind-the-scenes look at Milly Alcock, who stars as the titular character in the upcoming Supergirl movie. In what is likely no coincidence, Gunn posted the image Monday on social media ahead of the Warner Bros. presentation which takes place Tuesday at CinemaCon.

Expected at WB’s presentation is some sort of promotion for Gunn’s Superman movie and the rest of the DCU. With Gunn teasing Milly Alcock, it could be likely a first look at Milly Alcock in the Supergirl suits drops on Tuesday. We could also learn new details about Lanterns, Peacemaker Season 2, Clayface and more. Speculation offers a new Superman trailer is dropping soon.

David Corenswet also confirmed that a Superman extended preview will be attached to the IMAX screenings of Minecraft this weekend.

The behind-the-scenes image features Milly Alock with the Superman: World of Tomorrow comic from Tom King and Bilquis Evely which serves as inspiration for the film.

When is CinemaCon?

CinemaCon runs March 31 – April 3.

The Warner Bros. presentation takes Tuesday, April 1st at 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM PST (7:30 EST – 10:30 PM EST).

Supergirl Plot

In the comics, Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl, seeks Supergirl out for a vicious mission to help her get revenge on Krem of the Yellow Hills, a villain who killed her father. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge, and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core. 

Who stars?

Starring with Milly Alock as Supergirl includes Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Alura, with Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Release info

Supergirl gets released on June 26, 2026. Craig Gillespie is the director; the script is by Ana Nogueira.
