Ironheart Season 2 Depends on Viewership, Says Writer
Head writer and series creator Chinaka Hodge says Ironheart Season 2 depends on viewership ratings.
Hodge told TV Line:
“Audiences will help make that decision of what happens next—if anything,” she added. “So tune in and show Disney and the MCU that we have a strong fan base for Ironheart.”
Ironheart was actually created three years ago but shelved by Disney and Marvel as the series reportedly underwent creative changes, including reshoots and edits.
Poor Viewership Numbers for Ironheart
While the Nielsen ratings have yet to be released, Ironheart is absent from the Luminate viewership charts. Similar to Daredevil: Born Again, this likely means Ironheart has poor viewership.
Daredevil: Born Again also failed to chart on the Nielsen ratings, a first for a Marvel show on Disney+.
Disney also never made an official announcement about the Ironheart viewership numbers. Samba TV also, once again, didn’t report on the household viewership.
Daredevil: Born Again and Andor Comparison
Disney released Ironheart episodes in three-episode batches, as they also did for Andor Season 2, which charted. However, the average viewership per episode of Andor Season 2 showed that if the episodes were released individually, they wouldn’t have charted on Nielsen.
Daredevil: Born Again is getting a Season 2, but the series is much cheaper to produce than something like Ironheart, which was created three years ago when Disney was dropping billions on streaming content.
Disney Cuts Budgets After Streaming Flops
Due to the failure of Marvel shows like She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and Secret Invasion, along with Star Wars shows like The Acolyte that failed to deliver—each with $200 million budgets—Disney has pulled back on budgets and scaled back its content.
The Acolyte Also Canceled After Poor Reception
The Acolyte has also been canceled and won’t be getting a Season 2.
The series also suffered from similar poor viewership and a controversial storyline.
Ironheart Budget Would Be Slashed for Season 2
If Ironheart somehow miraculously gets a second season, you can bet the budget will be slashed—just like Daredevil, Agatha, and Echo.
