Henry Cavill Spotted With Longer, Curly Hair: Likely Headed To Australia For 'Voltron'

Henry Cavill was recently seen at Heathrow Airport in England. The sighting comes as the actor is thought to be heading to Australia to begin filming the live-action Voltron movie, which will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

Cavill, known for his iconic roles in The Witcher and Man of Steel, is set to star in this modern reimagining of the popular animated series from the ’80s. His role is unknown.

The photo reveals Henry with fans sporting longer, curly and wavy hair.

Update: Henry just posted he visited a Warhammer shop in his hometown as the TV series is officially in development, so assuming the image is recent, that means he may not have left yet for Australia.

The live-action Voltron movie: What We Know

The upcoming Voltron film will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who is known for his work on Red Notice. During a recent appearance at VoltCon in October, the director shared his enthusiasm for bringing the Voltron universe to life. Thurber revealed that the movie is approximately six weeks away from the start of production, which fits with Henry Cavill possibly leaving for Australia last week. Thurber said his Voltron movie will feature an all-new generation of pilots.

In this film, we’re going to be introducing an entirely new generation of pilots. We’ve reimagined Voltron for the live-action world but we’re going to stay true to the heart and the spirit of Voltron and those iconic elements that you love, that I love. And so I am so excited to share it with you.

Thurber, speaking from the Gold Coast of Australia where filming is set to take place, expressed his lifelong passion for Voltron, describing it as a dream project decades in the making and he also teased scenes involving the castle and the Lions.

A Peek Behind the Scenes

In the, Thurber gave fans a sneak peek of the massive sets being built for the film. He showcased Stage 8, one of the key locations, highlighting the grandeur and scale the production team is aiming for.

“I promise you, it will be worth the wait. It’s taken us forty years to get here.”

The director also gave a shout-out to the hundreds of artists and collaborators working to bring the world of Voltron to life.

With Henry Cavill leading the charge, joining him are Daniel Quinn-Toye, Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora, John Kim, Alba Baptista, Samson Kayo, Tharanya Tharan, Laura Gordon, and Tim Griffin. Specific details about the characters have not yet been revealed.

Amazon MGM Studios has yet to announce an official release date for the Voltron movie. However, with production kicking off soon, fans can likely expect updates in the near future.

Following Voltron, Henry Cavill will film the Highlander reboot with John Wick director Chad Stahelski. Cavill is also developing the live-action Warhammer series at Amazon.
