Add one more to the list who most likely will not be directing the new Star Wars movies.

Pacific Rim director Guillermo Del Toro was recently asked by Fanhattan.com if he had any interest in directing Star Wars Episode VII that debuts in 2015.

Del Toro says that he hasn’t been approached and has other cards on the table. He then goes on to compare Star Wars to dating a supermodel, in that he doesn’t think about it.

You know, I saw it on the Internet, but I haven’t approached them, they haven’t formally approached me. (Author’s note: Emphasis on “formally” is Del Toro’s.) I mean, I heard some rumblings, but to me it’s really — I have so many projects to discuss or think about. [For] something that is not a possibility yet, I don’t do that. You know, because I have so many things that I need to catch up with. If this becomes ever a reality, and there’s an approach to do it, I would then think about it, but — it’s like thinking if I want to date a supermodel. I don’t think about these things.

Guillermo Del Toro further clarified things over at the DelToroFilms Forums when a fan hoped he wouldn’t take it on.

No reason to worry. G

In addition to Del Toro, the directors who have recently stated they won’t be doing Star Wars includes Man of Steel‘s Zack Snyder, Star Trek‘s J.J. Abrams, Stephen Spielberg, and Quentin Tarantino .

Iron Man director John Favreau stated “we’ll see” when asked, and both Matthew Vaughn and Colin Trevorrow have been rumored to direct.
