Recently saw Gal Gadot claim she will be back for Wonder Woman 3 will James Gunn and Peter Safran, but now it’s claimed to be all “nonsense.”
Gadot recently told Comic Book that as far as she understands it, she will be developing Wonder Woman 3 together with Gunn and Safran: “I love portraying Wonder Woman. It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.”
However, scooper Jeff Sneider claims that’s all “nonsense” and agrees with a lot of fans’ sentiments in that “I don’t know why you bring in James Gunn and Peter Safran to reboot the DCU if they are not going to reboot the DCU?”
Sneider says what is going on with Gal Gadot returning as Wonder Woman is that this is a “yeah, yeah” — meaning Gal Gadot is talking with Warner Bros. about a return, but they are basically just indulging her.
Gal Gadot situation may be same as Affleck and Cavill
Sneider also questions why someone new developing Wonder Woman 3 wouldn’t be able to cast their own choice to play the character if Jenkins is not involved.
“I don’t know why they would hire someone who isn’t Patty Jenkins to come in and do Wonder Woman 3 and not let that person cast their Wonder Woman,” offers Sneider.
Sneider adds, “The people liked Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. She was well cast. She had her run, and it’s time to give somebody new a chance.”
“Yeah, yeah! We’re totally going to make this, Gal! Totally!” Sneider said with sarcasm.
John Rocha adds it sounds like a similar situation to what happened with both Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, to which Sneider agrees.
“Exactly,” says Sneider. “‘Yeah, yeahing’ with Affleck and Cavill.”
Sneider added, “What do you want them to say? Until they cast a new Wonder Woman, she’s going to be Wonder Woman in the eyes of the public or not, whether there is a movie in development or not.”
Rocha also says that probably what is going on is that since a new Wonder Woman hasn’t been cast that Gal Gadot can talk as if she is still Wonder Woman, which won’t hurt anything.
Rocha is probably right as again, that’s similar to what happened with Henry Cavill who kept saying the cape is in the closet, but when it came down to it, new casting was announced with David Corenswet for James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.
