Ana Nogueira is writing the new Wonder Woman reboot for DC Studios, following her work on the upcoming Supergirl movie.
New Writer for Wonder Woman, Teen Titans
The trades confirm Nogueira, who penned Supergirl for DC, has been hired by James Gunn and Peter Safran to script the reboot of Wonder Woman. She’s also reportedly working on a live-action Teen Titans project.
Wonder Woman fast-tracked
Gunn also touched upon Wonder Woman in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, as it was recently reported WW has been fast-tracked at WB.
“I don’t know what they mean by fast-tracking. [Laughs.] I’ve always had Wonder Woman as a priority,” said Gunn. “But we got the first few things started, and there’s some other things that are really close to green-lighting — like there’s a television show that I hope that we’re gonna be green-lighting in the next few days.”
Gunn continued, “So now a little time has passed, and we really need Wonder Woman and we really need Batman, because they’re so important to us. And so it’s become a little bit more like going to everybody at DC and being like, we need to figure this out. We have good writers on Wonder Woman and we just have to make sure it’s working and they have to not be somebody who’s gonna take two years to write a script.”
No Patty Jenkins, No Gal Gadot
This reboot follows the scrapping of Wonder Woman 3, which would’ve been directed by Patty Jenkins. Jenkins had previously broken records with Wonder Woman (2017), which grossed over $820 million worldwide. The sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, dropped with a streaming and theatrical release and flopped at the box office.
Gal Gadot is no longer expected to return.
Part of DCU’s New Direction
James Gunn’s Superman has already crossed $406 million globally in two weekends. Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock and directed by Craig Gillespie, releases June 26, 2026.
DC Studios is also developing Paradise Lost, an HBO series set in Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s home.
Who Is Ana Nogueira?
Nogueira began her career as an actress with roles in The Vampire Diaries and The Michael J. Fox Show. Supergirl is her first produced screenplay.
DC Studios at Comic-Con
Gunn will be at San Diego Comic-Con this week, alongside John Cena, showcasing Peacemaker Season 2, so we may see more DCU announcements.
