A new report offers that a new Wonder Woman movie is being fast-tracked by James Gunn at DC Studios.
It’s also added that a Superman sequel announcement does not appear to be imminent.
The report comes via Variety and follows recent comments by Gunn and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav about how important Wonder Woman is to the DCU. Variety doesn’t go into much detail:
Although Warner Bros. has sequel options on Corenswet and Brosnahan, a sequel announcement does not appear to be imminent. Instead, sources say the studio is fast-tracking a “Wonder Woman” movie.
James Gunn has confirmed Wonder Woman is being worked on and that the project will only get greenlit if the script is good enough.
Wonder Woman important to the DCU
Zaslav in congratulating Superman for its box office opening also said Gunn has a “bold ten-year plan,” adding, “The DC vision is clear, the momentum is real, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.”
The CEO also touted Wonder Woman as one of the four characters that will be the “pillars” and “asset-builders” of the DCU, which also includes Superman, Batman, and Supergirl.

Fans want Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman
No release date, creative team, or actress has been announced for Wonder Woman. A popular name via fan casting is Adria Arjona, who recently starred in Andor.
“I follow Adria on Instagram but everybody came out [and said], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman,’” Gunn said in an interview with Extra. “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.”
Gunn continued, “She was in a movie that I made seven years ago. We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time. I followed her then, I didn’t just follow her.”
Arjona has also said she would loves Gunn, as he cast in her The Belko Experiment.
“I love James Gunn,” Arjona said in an interview with CinemaBlend in April. “He gave me my first movie ever, which was like my first studio movie, so I owe him a lot.”

Wonder Woman 3 canceled, Gal Gadot out
Gal Gadot played Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s DCEU. When Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of the DCU, they canceled Wonder Woman 3. Gal Gadot will no longer be playing the role.
