First Look At Liu Yifei In Disney’s Mulan

Disney releases a first look at Liu Yifei as the titular character in their upcoming live-action Mulan movie as filming started today.

“The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. When the Emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China’s greatest warriors ever,” Disney said in a statement.

The movie is filming in New Zealand and China.

Details for the live-action version are said to include a new love interestest, Chen Honghui, played by Yoson An, and that the film will feature a witch as a villain.

Disney animated Mulan was released back in June of 1998 and grossed over $304 million worlwide, its Rotten Tomatoes scrore is 86%, with 85% of the audience stating they liked it.

Mulan has a March 27, 2020 releaese directed by Niki Caro also starring Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Yifei Liu, Jason Scott Lee, Li Gong, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Roger Yuan, Xana Tang and Chum Ehelepola.
