Exclusive: Older Batman Rumors False; Update on Flash Movie; Mark Strong Up For Luthor Like We Told You

Back in June, Cosmic Book News first told you that Zack Snyder was considering Mark Strong for the role of Lex Luthor in the Man of Steel sequel.

Now we hear from the actor who hints at the possibility.

Asked by Digital Spy about playing Lex Luthor in the Superman/Batman Man of Steel 2 movie, Mark Strong replied, All I can say is… watch this space.”

Our DC Entertainment Source also told us the rumor about Bryan Cranston being up for Lex Luthor doesn’t look to be true as Lex is going to be a charming businessman, and Zack Snyder wants Strong for the role.

Our source said Zack Snyder envisioned Henry Cavill as Superman, and this looks to be a similar situation.

We are also told David Goyer is currently writing up a rough first draft of the script with the movie set a year after Man of Steel.

Regarding Batman in the movie being an older character, we are told that isn’t the case; that any casting rumors about actors nearing 50 are “definitely false.”

Our DC Entertainment source said it’s more than likely Batman will be in his 30s.

We are also told by a second source that the casting rumors of an older Batman are just that.

Some other information our DC Entertainment source has managed to dig up includes mention that both Metropolis and Gotham City will be featured in the movie as well as it looking like Alfred and Gordon will be supporting characters.

Previous to Comic-Con there was a rumor of a Flash movie being announced, with our source telling us Berlanti, Guggenheim and Green turned in a treatment in 2011 for a film, with the studio happy with the potential it posed. Cosmic Book News is also told The Flash movie could be based on that version with Geoff Johns on Creative Consultant duty on the script.

Superman/Batman, the sequel to Man of Steel, goes into production next year for a 2015 release starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
