Doctor Who Canceled At Disney+ Claim Rumors: No Season 3

Users on X are claiming that Doctor Who has already been canceled at Disney+ and that following the release of Season 2, there will be no Season 3.

Update: Rumors claim Disney is demanding the removal of showrunner Russell T Davies.

On Wednesday, Disney+ announced the Season 2 premiere date set for a release on Saturday, April 12th.

X users reacted to the news claiming Doctor Who is already canceled on Disney+ (see below). Recently also saw the report that Ncuti Gatwa has quit and filmed his regeneration scene. It’s known that the series has the worst ratings in the show’s entire 60-year history.

Responding to previous Ncuti Gatwa rumors, the BBC has denied the cancellation rumors:

This story is incorrect, Doctor Who has not been shelved. As we have previously stated, the decision on season 3 will be made after season 2 airs. The deal with Disney+ was for 26 episodes – and exactly half of those still have to transmit. And as for the rest, we never comment on the Doctor and future storylines.

Doctor Who canceled on Disney+?

The rumors that Doctor Who has already been canceled come via MasteroftheTDS on X who is known for his excellent research and exposure of bot farms on X.

The account responded to the Season 2 premiere news questioning, “Think Disney will allow it to get to a season 3?”

X account, SciFi4Me.com replied, “I’ve been told Disney is done with it. Two seasons, four specials in the deal. They’re not satisfied so they won’t renew. Wish I could confirm that with a second source.”

MasteroftheTDS responded, “I’ve heard the same, @MrHreviews has done some great coverage of what’s been going on with it behind the scenes.”

Mr H Reviews caught wind of the conversation and added, “Yeah I have it on very good authority it’s dead now. They already filmed ncuti’s regeneration ending.”

GigglesNBits also chimed in replying that popular YouTuber Nerdrotics said, “They don’t have a Christmas special approved. That’s a strong indicator for no season 3.” The user added, “Gary is careful about what he says, so I have high confidence, he’s right.”

Update: A report also says the Christmas Special isn’t happening.

I also added my two cents: “Doubt they drop another $100M on Doctor Who if they are pulling back on both Marvel and Star Wars which have better ratings.”
