Disney+ has canceled Goosebumps after two seasons, ending its run on the platform. The horror anthology, based on R.L. Stine’s bestselling books, will now be shopped to other outlets by producer Sony Pictures Television, according to the trades.
Two Seasons and Done
Season 1 premiered in October 2023 with a weekly release schedule. It performed well, ranking in Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming series for four weeks.
The second season, subtitled The Vanishing, debuted in January 2025 with all eight episodes released at once but failed to chart.
Combined, the two seasons have been watched for 118 million hours worldwide, 75 million in the U.S., and 43 million in 16 international markets.

Anthology Format
Each season told a different story:
- Season 1 followed five high schoolers investigating the death of Harold Biddle decades earlier.
- Season 2 focused on fraternal twins who move in with their divorced botanist father and uncover strange events linked to four teens who vanished in 1994.
Cast
Season 1 starred Justin Long, Rachael Harris, Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, and Will Price.
Season 2 brought on Friends actor David Schwimmer and also starred Ana Ortiz, Jayden Bartels, Sam McCarthy, Elijah M. Cooper, Francesca Noel, and Galilea La Salvia.
Creative Team
The series was developed by Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, with Hilary Winston as showrunner. Executive producers included Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Iole Lucchese, Caitlin Friedman, Conor Welch, and Erin O’Malley. Sony Pictures Television produced in association with Disney Branded Television.

Goosebumps Legacy
First published in 1992, Goosebumps has sold over 400 million copies worldwide across more than 200 books, including spinoffs. The property has previously been adapted into a 1990s TV series and two feature films in 2015 and 2018.
A new book was just released this week with Goosebumps: The Last Sleepover, the fifth book in the Shivers series.
Variety first reported on the cancellation.
