Deadpool & Wolverine Gets Oscars, Golden Globes Campaign From Marvel

Marvel is hoping its billion-dollar Deadpool & Wolverine movie will win big at the upcoming Golden Globes and Oscars.

The flick is currently at $1.3 billion worldwide and recently became the #21 top movie of all time passing Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Frozen.

Now thanks to Variety, it’s learned Marvel will begin campaigning for the film and those involved in its creation for Golden Globes, Oscars, and more during the upcoming awards season.

The site offers Marvel will submit Deadpool & Wolverine for consideration at the Golden Globes in the comedy categories, with Reynolds’ performance as Wade Wilson and Deadpool vying for one of the six spots in the actor (comedy or musical) category.

It’s also said Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine will be submitted across all the awards shows for best-supporting actor — including the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Critics Choice, and even the Oscars.

Marvel isn’t done there as the site says Deadpool & Wolverine is guaranteed a spot in the Golden Globes’ new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, which was added last year that went to Barbie.

In addition, Marvel is hoping the flick will be nominated and win Oscars in technical categories, including production design, sound, and visual effects.

As noted, the first Deadpool released in 2016 received two Golden Globe nominations, including best motion picture (musical or comedy) and best actor for Reynolds. The flick was also recognized at Producers Guild of America for Best Pictures, which Variety suggests will happen again this year.
