Deadpool & Wolverine: Box Office, Rotten Tomatoes Updates

Deadpool & Wolverine: Box Office, Rotten Tomatoes Updates

Deadpool & Wolverine is now out in theaters, and the good news is it gets an official recommendation from yours truly.

I’m at Comic-Con, so we took time out of our busy schedule to go to a local AMC theater in San Diego. I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I stayed away from basically all the trailers and didn’t read the interviews or view any of the promos.

Then on Tuesday, the early reviews hit Rotten Tomatoes, which had me a bit worried. The shill sites weren’t giving it good reviews, and Deadpool & Wolverine had a score of only 79%, the lowest of the franchise and on par with the MCU’s Captain Marvel, Black Widow, and She-Hulk. Yikes!

However, Deadpool & Wolverine blew away all my expectations! We all loved the film and want to see it again. It’s definitely worth a repeat viewing or three.

What are the Rotten Tomatoes scores?

Regarding the reviews, the Deadpool & Wolverine Rotten Tomatoes Score is still what I consider really low for the film as it is at 80% with 284 reviews. I have yet to go over the reviews, but I can’t see what they would not like about the movie. Maybe I’ll save that for another article.

Regarding the fans, that’s an entirely different story. The Deadpool & Wolverine Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score is near perfect with 97%, which is the best of the franchise. The first Deadpool at a 90% Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score, with the second at 85%.

Saturday update: Rotten Tomatoes Score now at 80%; Audience Score is at 97%; Deadpool & Wolverine received an “A” CinemaScore.

What about the box office?

The early estimates had the Deadpool & Wolverine box office opening to $200 million or more.

However, the closer to the release, the estimates dropped to, I think, as low as $150 million. The current estimates are in the middle of those two numbers, with Deadpool & Wolverine looking like a $180 million opening, but higher is definitely possible.

I think with word-of-mouth it could hit that $200 million number as the flick is definitely a must-see movie.

The Thursday previews did $38.5M, the eighth-biggest preview of all-time and the best for an R-rated movie, which beat Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ $36M in 2022. Deadpool & Wolverine is a way better movie. DS2 went on to open to $187.5M.

Saturday update: Estimates are now as high as $205 million or more. Friday, with the Thursday previews, opened to $96 million, according to Disney. Worldwide box office opening is estimated over $420 million.

Tuesday update: The film opened to $211,435,291 and with Tuesday’s numbers has passed $500M worldwide.
