It’s again said that Superman will be skipping this summer’s big San Diego Comic-Con and that only Peacemaker will be there with James Gunn and John Cena.
Last week, Gunn confirmed to fans on Threads when he said, “It’s just me and John and Peacemaker. Though of course I’ll talk about everything.”
Now comes a report from THR stating that James Gunn is “going all in” on Peacemaker Season 2 with John Cena, which could see a Comic-Con Hall H panel, but Superman and the upcoming Supergirl movie, set for June 2026, are sitting this one out.
Gunn’s Superman flies into theaters on July 11. Peacemaker Season 2 premieres Thursday, August 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. on HBO Max. Comic-Con runs July 24-27. It’s also been said Marvel Studios won’t be attending.
No Big Screen Plans from DC at SDCC
“Simply, neither Superman nor Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow are slated to be have Hall H panels,” stated THR. “SDCC is two weeks after Superman arrives in theaters, so the company won’t be doing anything on that front.”
Regarding the next DC movie following the intro to the new Man of Steel, the report added, “And Supergirl doesn’t hit in theaters until June 26, 2026 so DC Studios is biding its time before making any reveals (New York Comic Con, possibly?).“
The e-mail newsletter continues and says, “Peacemaker will have a big footprint at the convention, a move that signals DC and Max’s confidence in season two, which bows Aug. 21. And, while DC had no comment, there could be a Hall H panel for the show.“
Superman going on a world tour
While there will apparently be no Superman at Comic-Con (maybe they are waiting to see if the movie is a success?), a World Tour with the cast is happening in Manila, Rio De Janeiro, London, Paris, Los Angeles, New York, and Beijing.

DC Saving Supergirl for Later? Maybe NYCC?
If Supergirl does appear at the SDCC, similar to Superman, the DC movie also won’t have a Comic-Con appearance. Gunn did show up at last year’s New York Comic-Con in October, so maybe that’s possible this year.
Clayface moving forward
DC also has the Clayface movie in the works. Actors said to be up for the role include George MacKay, Tom Blyth, Jack O’Connell, and Leo Woodall. The film is slated to be released on September 11, 2026.
