David Corenswet Goes Viral For ‘Saving’ Milly Alcock At Supergirl Premiere

If you were to believe some of the mainstream press and the DCU fans, it would seem as if David Corenswet saved Milly Alcock from certain death.

In what is being called David Corenswet’s real-life Superman moment, at Monday’s Supergirl premiere in New York City, the DCU’s Man of Steel stepped in to defend co-star Milly Alcock after a photographer appeared to touch her without permission on the red carpet, and the moment quickly went viral.

What The Video Shows

In footage shared on X, Corenswet, who plays Clark Kent/Superman opposite Alcock’s Kara Zor-El, is seen moving to put himself between Alcock and the press line after a photographer made contact with her back.

It’s not clear from the clip why the photographer reached out, but it looks as if he was asking the actors to better position themselves for a photo.

That’s when Corenswet visibly stepped in to “shield” his co-star.

The video, posted by the fan account Home of DCU, has already racked up nearly a million views, with the caption: “Why tf would you put your hands on an actress at their movie premiere as a photographer?”

What’s really going on here?

The timing of the video is hard to ignore. It comes as Supergirl faces a dwindling box office opening. It comes with Milly Alcock facing severe online backlash from fans.

While some fans were quick to praise the gesture, as one fan wrote, “Protective cousin moment,” and another summed up the reaction as, “Bro’s Superman in the movies and Superman in real life too it seems.”

Others didn’t seem phased.

“Look at Alcock’s response. She didn’t even know anything happened. So rage boy Corenswet’s reaction was ABSURD. We have a photographer directing two people (Alcock & Hoult) for photos that he’s hired to get to help promote their shitty movie. Nothing more. Nothing less,” a fan wrote.

Another fan even said, “David looks like he’s joking tho.”

What appears to set Corenswet off is that when the photographer touches her, she instantly moves away, so that is likely why Corenswet acted the way he did. We also don’t get to see the look of Alcock’s face when she reacted.

What will be interesting is this weekend’s box office battle.

Supergirl soars into theaters June 26.
