The Dark Knight Rises (2012): Exclusive Rumors on Robin, Batman, Bane and More

picOnce again, file this under the rumor mill, which seems to be churning out of info these days at Cosmic Book News.

Previously, we told you that Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises would be a combination of various DC Comics Batman stories (Updated: as well as news on the Batcave, Batwing, Bane and Talia al Ghul) We’ve just been given a bit more info that the story takes elements — some small, some big — from each of the comics and includes them into the story.

Apparently there is some thought that “Batman: No Man’s Land” will play a part in The Dark Knight Rises. The reason being could either be because of the footage from the Pittsburgh Heinz Field shoot, which some thought revealed Bane having an “earthquake device,” or that fact that it has become known that Bane takes over Gotham. I’m being told “No Man’s Land” will not be an influence on The Dark Knight Rises.

However, the reason why Bane takes over Gotham — is because Batman gets injured at the hands of Bane, and Batman disappears for a few months to recover. This enables Bane and his mercenaries to run amok through Gotham, turning the city into a massive crisis. In “No Man’s Land” an earthquake struck Gotham causing the U.S. Govt. to close off the city, resulting in Bruce Wayne leaving Gotham to argue against that decision, which caused the rise of the villains in Gotham City.

Next, when Batman returns it brings back hope to the city as Gordon was trying to the save the city on his own, resulting in him being hospitalized. Bruce Wayne goes to visit Gordon, which inspires Batman to return faster. Also, something about Bruce wearing a mask or disguise when visiting Gordon is mentioned.

Another tidbit: Most people in the city believe that turning corrupt will save them from Bane.

Finally, the source was adamant that there will be “NO ROBIN at all!!”

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra’s al Ghul.
