WWE’s Cody Rhodes Fuels Street Fighter Movie Hype With Guile Tease

WWE’s Cody Rhodes will play Guile in Legendary’s upcoming Street Fighter movie, and now comedian Andrew Schulz has added fuel to the fire with an Instagram tease.

Schulz, who is confirmed to be playing Dan Hibiki, posted a photo on Instagram showing the shadow of Cody Rhodes with the caption: “A new warrior has entered…”

The image features Guile’s signature hair.

Guile has been one of the most recognizable characters in the Street Fighter franchise since Street Fighter II (1991), known for his military background, trademark flattop haircut, and moves like the Sonic Boom and Flash Kick.

Rhodes, the reigning WWE Champion, has the look and physicality for the role, and fans have been buzzing online about how naturally he fits the character.

What We Know About the Movie

The film is being developed by Legendary after they secured exclusive film and TV rights to Street Fighter. Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip, Twisted Metal) is set to direct. Dalan Musson wrote the screenplay.

No release date has been announced yet. According to IMDb, filming is said to take place in Australia.
