While we wait for the third Cloverfield movie (possibly getting released on Netflix), it’s learned Cloverfield 4 is actually already finished filming.
The synopsis for Cloverfield Overlord is as follows:
On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.
Cloverfield 4 is directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun) and stars Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street) and Jovan Adepo (Fences).
It’s noted both Cloverfield 3 (possibly titled Cloverfield Station) and Cloverfield Overlord are being produced by J.J. Abrams and directed by up-and-coming filmmakers, as were the first two Cloverfield movies.
While the Cloverfield movies aren’t directly in sync, they share some sort of common crossover/theme, which remains to be seen in its entirety, but they do share the fictional Japanese media company, Tagruato.
With Cloverfield 4 already finished, it’s now speculated both Cloverfield Station and Cloverfield Overlord may get released this year (and possibly both on Netflix).
