Here are some excerpts (both Fresh and Rotten):
- Fresh: “Like its tough, smart heroine, ‘Captain Marvel’ dances to its own beat; it’s an origin story that isn’t structured as an origin story but gets there all the same.” – source
- Rotten: “The first female-led movie of the MCU deserved more.” – source
- Fresh: “Captain Marvel is enjoyable enough as popcorn entertainment.” – source
- Rotten: “The picture is not dull, exactly, just mundane, marked by unimaginative plotting, cut-rate villains, a bland visual style and a lack of elan in every department.” – source
The 86% puts Captain Marvel presently in line with MCU flicks such as Ant-Man and the Wasp (88%), Avengers: Infinity War (85%), and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (84%).
The audience score for the movie is not yet available, and Rotten Tomatoes removed the “Want to See” rating following its score plummeting to the 20th percentile.
