Bruce Campbell posted a message on Monday on social media to fans revealing he’s dealing with cancer.
He says it’s considered “treatable,” not “curable,” and admits the news shocked him, too.
He says he’s keeping details private
The Evil Dead actor and producer says he’s not going into any more detail about the diagnosis.
The point of the post is to get ahead of the news and avoid false information spreading.

Summer convention appearances are being canceled
He says he has to cancel several conventions this summer because treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always line up. He also says appearances, cons, and work in general need to take a back seat to treatment.
He hopes to be well enough to tour for his new movie this fall
Campbell says his plan is to get as well as possible over the summer so he can tour with his new movie, Ernie & Emma, in the fall.

“Not trying to enlist sympathy” and says he expects to be around
He makes it clear he isn’t asking for sympathy or advice. He calls himself “a tough old son-of-a-bitch,” says he has great support, and expects to be around a while. He ends by thanking fans and saying he hopes to see them soon.
Bruce Campbell’s legacy: Evil Dead icon, producer, and Raimi regular
Bruce Campbell is best known as Ash Williams, the chainsaw-wielding hero of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead films, a role that turned him into a horror legend.
While he’s stepped back from playing Ash on-screen, Campbell has stayed tied to the franchise as a producer on the newer Evil Dead movies.
He’s also been a longtime Raimi collaborator outside horror, famous for popping up in the director’s projects, including the Spider-Man trilogy, where he shows up in memorable cameos fans still quote and spot on rewatches.
