Returning Cast and Crew

Black Phone 2 brings back Ethan Hawke as the terrifying Grabber, alongside Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora. Scott Derrickson returns to direct, co-writing the script with C. Robert Cargill. The duo also serves as producers, along with Jason Blum.

The film is a Universal and Blumhouse release, in association with Crooked Highway Productions. Joe Hill and Ryan Turek are listed as executive producers.

Plot

Ethan Hawke returns to his darkest role as The Grabber, now haunting from beyond the grave. He sets his sights on Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), the younger sister of Finn (Mason Thames), whom he previously held captive.

Now 17, Finn is still dealing with the trauma of his past, while 15-year-old Gwen begins to experience eerie phone calls in her dreams and visions of three boys being stalked at a remote winter camp called Alpine Lake.

As Gwen pushes to solve the mystery, she convinces Finn to travel with her to the camp during a snowstorm. What they uncover links The Grabber to their own family’s past—and forces them to face a killer more dangerous in death than he ever was in life.

Trailer Hints at Supernatural Sequel

The teaser trailer features a haunting voiceover and ominous visuals:

“I had a bad dream. Hello, Finney. Did you think our story was over? You’re dead. You, of all people, know that dead is just a word. He’s here. Gwen! Vengeance is mine.”

The dialogue hints that Hawke’s character may not be finished, and that Finney and Gwen are still deeply affected by the events of the first film.

Franchise Future

Black Phone 2 is being positioned as the start of a new horror franchise, with Blumhouse and Universal looking to expand on the success of the original.

Release info

Black Phone 2 gets released in theaters on October 17th.
