Update: Zack Snyder Slams Thor and says Superman needs to be fixed!
Zack Snyder has been making the rounds as of late promoting his latest flick, Sucker Punch.
During those interviews, the director has commented -or two– on the new Superman movie.
This time speaking with Jake Hamilton (4 minute mark – below), Snyder hints that we may be seeing a different version of Superman?
“There could be a character in the movie that other people might refer to as Superman,” said Snyder.
Now, this is an interesting statement.
We can only guess, but at a certain point in the movie with Superman having already been revealed to the world, at some point people are made to think there is another Superman?
Enter Bizarro.
Snyder has made numerous comments about how his version of Superman is going to be different and be a lot more physical, even stating The Man of Steel “should kick ass.”
As I have stated before, a kick a– Superman is going to need kick a– villains.
Superman can’t go around punching Lex Luthor in the face. As much as we like to see the end result, Supes is a bit of a Boy Scout. With Bizarro in the picture, Superman could go all out.
In the comics, Bizarro is a clone – a flawed duplicate of Superman. Depending on your timeline, he was either created by a scientist when shooting Superboy with a ray gun, by Lex Luthor or by the Joker. Regardless, he is basically Superman with a child-like mentality – think Frankenstein. Perhaps, we could see some form of manipulation by Zod in the new Superman movie as the once Kryptonian General is rumored to appear, as well.
Of course, Snyder could simply be referring to Zod as he shares the same powers as Superman.
