Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender Leak Leads To Arrest In Singapore

A 26-year-old man in Singapore has been arrested after allegedly leaking The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender online, turning what started as a viral piracy story into a criminal case.

Singapore police, via The Straits Times, said they received a report on April 16 about parts of an unreleased film circulating on social media, identified the suspect within a day, and later recovered a copy of the movie from his devices.

Singapore police say he accessed a media server without authorization

According to police, the man allegedly gained unauthorized remote access to a media server, downloaded the unreleased animated film, and then posted parts of it online.

Authorities also seized multiple electronic devices during the arrest.

He is now being investigated for unauthorized access to computer material, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison, a fine of up to S$50,000, or both.

The leak first blew up on X before spreading further

The online mess started after the X user ImStillDissin claimed Nickelodeon had “accidentally emailed” him the entire movie.

Clips quickly spread online, and after those early posts drew attention, the situation escalated fast.

Reports also said a separate account that also appeared to be tied to someone in Singapore leaked the full movie by April 13, sending it across fan circles and piracy sites.
