Anya Taylor-Joy Rumored For Black Cat In Spider-Man 4: Producer Responds

It’s rumored that Anya Taylor-Joy is up to play Black Cat opposite Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4, which sees producer Amy Pascal respond.

“She would be fantastic. She’s amazing,” Pascal responded to questioning.

Howefer, Pascal wouldn’t confirm and said they are still early in the process.

“We’re not quite at that stage, yet,” she said. “There’s a lot of fantastic female characters. But I can’t talk about all of this!”

Everyone has forgotten Peter

Pascal previously dropped a tidbit that Spider-Man 4 will continue from the events of No Way Home where everyone has forgotten about Peter Parker, which is leading to speculation Black Cat will be featured in the film.

“We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about,” Pascal said in a recent interview.

New female lead rumored

In the comics, Black Cat happens to be more enamored with “Spider-Man” than Peter Parker, as she loves the action of Spidey but finds “Peter” boring. A previous Spider-Man 4 rumor said they were either eyeing Madelyn Cline for the role or a “Madelyn Cline type.”

In the Spider-Man 4 report, it’s rumored the film will feature a new female lead in part because of Zendaya’s busy schedule. It’s claimed Zendaya’s role  is “severely reduced” and will be “minor.” That fits with the story, again, because Zendaya’s MJ forgets about Peter. It’s further claimed that Peter also finds a new group of friends. His best bud, Ned, has also forgotten about him.

The untitled Spider-Man 4 has a July 26, 2026 release date. Shang-Chi‘s Destin Daniel Craig is directing.
