It’s claimed that Amber Heard is getting her own HBO Max series for Mera which will spin-off from the Aquaman movies.
YouTuber Grace Randolph claims the rumor is true and says the Mera HBO Max series will mostly take place on land.
Randolph previously said that Amber Heard’s role in Aquaman 2 will be drastically reduced – said to be because of the controversy involving Johnny Depp – with Randolph offering the Mera series will explain why Mera isn’t a big part of the sequel:
#Mera #HBOMax show rumor is TRUE —
My source says it will take place mostly on land, explain why she’s not a big part of #Aquaman2…
They’re hoping to announce in next few months if they get good script & showrunner

Amber Heard sticking around
It’s also known that Zack Snyder brought Amber Heard back for additional scenes for his Snyder Cut of the Justice League movie that he filmed in October, so it appears as if Amber Heard is going to stick around the DC films universe.
Worth a mention is that Warner Bros. also got rid of Depp from Fantastic Beasts 3 and replaced him with Mads Mikkelsen.
Some fans actually want Amber Heard out of the DC films as a petition has almost 2 million signatures, and if you want to see how rabid is the fan base, check out comments on DC’s Instagram page, particularly the Wonder Woman 1984 posts.
Heard actually responded to rumors of her departing Aquaman 2 and said it isn’t happening.
“I’m super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that Aquaman has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we’ll be coming back. I’m so excited to film that,” Heard told EW adding that the production on Aquaman 2 hopes to start sometime in 2021, and she said that the rumors online are a part of some sort of paid campaign. “Paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don’t dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality. Only the fans actually made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen. I’m excited to get started next year.”
There are actually a bunch of wild rumors floating around Hollywood in regards to Amber Heard and why she is staying at Warner Bros. and DC and why Johnny Depp got the boot, which involves actors, directors, and producers, but the rumors are rather out there and come from some alleged Hollywood lawyer’s gossip blog, so you can do the hunting if you want to find out more.
