The Knight Rider movie in development from the creators of Cobra Kai could include a surprise appearance by Airwolf.
Airwolf in the Script
Cue the epic theme song: According to the Tachyon Pulse podcast on YouTube, Universal is interested in having Airwolf featured in the upcoming Knight Rider film. The helicopter may not have a large role, but could appear as a cameo, or even be referenced briefly within the story.
“I am hearing that they will have Airwolf in this film,” says the YouTuber. “Now, it may not have a big part in it. It may be basically a cameo or even something that is just sort of talked about and seen for a moment within the movie, but I’m being told that is something they really do want to bring into it.”
While nothing is final, the mention of Airwolf adds weight to earlier rumors that Universal is exploring a shared universe built around its classic ’80s action properties.

Building a Shared Universe
The podcast notes that Universal has been considering a lineup that includes Knight Rider, Airwolf, and The Six Billion Dollar Man, maybe even Street Hawk (motorcycle).
The plan would be to start with the Knight Rider movie and expand outward into other projects, eventually tying them together in a crossover.

Possible Approaches
There is also speculation about how the new Knight Rider will be framed. Options include a fully modern retelling with futuristic technology, a continuation that reintroduces KITT in today’s world, or even a faithful remake of the 1982 original with a Pontiac Firebird.
The studio’s direction appears to lean toward a retelling of the original concept.
The YouTuber previously said that Elon Musk’s Tesla could be the new KITT or some sort of concept car, including an EV Dodge Charger.

Release info
The Knight Rider movie has no release date as of yet.
Back in August it was announced that the creators of Cobra Kai are set to bring Knight Rider to the big screen. Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald are in talks to write and direct the movie, which is based on the classic 1980s action drama about Michael Knight and his talking car, KITT.
“I suggest you fasten your seatbelts, everyone. Knight Rider is coming!” confirmed Hurwitz on Instagram at the time. “So excited to dig into another old ‘80s favorite! Grateful to be teaming up with the incredible teams at 87 North and Spyglass! And to be reuniting with our old friends at Universal Pictures!”
