Brie Larson is excited about the release of The Marvels as the actress teases she is one week closer on her Instagram.
The actress posted an image of herself waving at fans along with a video of herself dancing with who looks to be Iman Vellani.
“TFW you’re another week closer to The Marvels,” said Brie Larson.
Recently saw the release date pushed back by four months, so it’s still going to be a while before the flick comes out.
For fans thinking that Brie Larson might be teasing the release of The Marvels trailer, if that was going to happen soon, I’m guessing Marvel Studios would have released it last week with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
When will The Marvels trailer be released?
Marvel Studios usually releases the first trailer around four months prior to the release of a movie, so if that holds up, The Marvels trailer could be released in July, probably at the San Diego Comic-Con.
The Marvels release date was recently pushed back from July 28 to November 10 so it seems unlikely The Marvels trailer would be dropping soon, especially with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 getting released in May.
Now that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been released, look for promotion on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to pick up, which is what we saw earlier in the month with the Super Bowl trailer.
Kevin Feige and Marvel did release The Marvels trailer last year during September’s D23 Expo (description below) and with the film getting pushed back, it seems likely the trailer won’t be out for a while.
Iman Vellani is the star of The Marvels?
Feige did just discuss the movie and revealed that Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel steals the show and even compared the movie to The Avengers.
“I hope we learn something on every project. I was very pleased with everything that we did,” Feige said about the Disney Plus shows. “Kamala Khan, for instance, is a great new character in the pantheon. I’m very proud of the Ms. Marvel show. I also know — and this is a spoiler — she essentially steals The Marvels.“
Regarding comparisons to The Avengers, Feige said seeing Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris on screen together felt similar.
“That’s what the entire movie is about. There are fun cosmic elements to it,” said Feige regarding the dynamic between Vellani, Larson, and Parris. “Marvel comic fans will recognize elements of the Kree-Skrull war. And it’s picking up directly after the end of Captain Marvel 1, not in timeline but in story. We also do that in our upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion, and those are two very different follow-ups to that movie. Tonally, they couldn’t be more different. But there’s something immensely powerful about seeing Monica and Kamala and Carol together in a frame. To me, it’s only akin to the first Avengers movie and seeing the six of them together in a frame. It’s chill-inducing. They’re so great together, and they all have different histories with one another.”
What did The Marvels trailer show off at The D23 Expo?
Regarding The Marvels trailer shown at D23, the footage showed four characters, including Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, using their light powers together, along with Nick Fury.
The Marvels trailer features the music of The Beastie Boys with “Intergalactic Planetary.”
The footage shows Teynoah Parris’ Monica Rambeau in space as an astronaut at SABER space station with Nick Fury’s Samuel L. Jackson where a portal opens, Monica touches an energy field, and Monica switches places with Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan who is now in the spacesuit where she waves at Fury.
A series of swaps is shown with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers ending up in Kamla’s room as seen in the Ms. Marvel post-credit scene.
Monica is shown crashing on a moon with Kree warriors.
The three realize that they’re bound together and that their powers can work together to create a team, and Kamala feels the creation of a team makes her really happy.
