Shazam! Character Descriptions Rumored; Possibly Black Adam

Following it learned that Mark Strong has been confirmed as the villain of the upcoming Shazam! movie as Dr. Sivana, now apparent character descriptions have made their way online.

Update: Shazam! director says character descriptions are BS.

Thathashtagshow.com posted information that includes:

  • HADDEUS BODOG SIVANA – “Evil sorcerer who regenerates from death with world domination on his mind.” Supporting Lead Male
  • BEAUTIA SIVANA – “Sivana’s devoted daughter. When he does not return her love, she changes loyalties and helps Billy out.” Supporting Lead Female
  • MAGNIFICUS SIVANA – “Sivana’s incredibly giant and strong son that has a huge battle with Shazam.” Supporting Lead Male
  • SHAZAM – “Elderly wizard who is forced to give his powers to a young boy before the boy is ready.” Supporting Lead Male

Black Adam Dwayne Johnson

As pointed out, the last description is rather enigmatic and may even hint at Dwayne Johnson appearing as Black Adam in that it could be sort of a cover-up:

  • MYSTERIOUS MAN – “Shazam’s underling.” Cameo Male

Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has been teasing the film on Instagram and one of his recent posts did feature a Black Adam action figure. It has been said that Dwayne Johnson and Black Adam are not supposed to appear in Shazam!, and that Black Adam will first have his own solo movie prior to meeting up with Shazam, but it’s always possible things could have changed. Maybe they want to introduce Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam in the Shazam! movie prior to the Black Adam flick, which has been sounding more and more like an origin story.

Mark Strong Shazam

Regarding the role of Dr. Sivana, Mark Strong recently confirmed his involvement in the Shazam! movie and even teased the character’s powers.

‘I’m playing an evil bastard called Doctor Sivana, they are always the best characters to play, the most fun.” Mark Strong said at the Cirque du Soleil ‘OVO’ at The Royal Albert Hall in London. “I was Sinestro in Green Lantern, which I though was a rather good film, but it didn’t do what they wanted. So I feel like I’ve got unfinished business in the DC world. I played a pretty evil character in that, and he was meant to get even worse in the second one but that never happened, but I think I’m going to get the chance to do that in Shazam!, I hope so.”

Similar to Zachary Levi, Mark Strong also compared Shazam! to the movie Big.

“It’s a funny film, it’s about a young boy who can become a superhero but still remains a young boy so there’s elements of Big, there’s elements of Stranger Things. I think originally the comic outsold Superman in the 1940s,” Strong said.

Mark Strong Shazam villain

Regarding his Dr. Sivana, Mark Strong teases the character’s powers.

“I’ve been training like a mad man, I’m about to go over and see the stunt guys, I’ve been trying all of these harnesses on, and I think I’m going to be doing lots of flying around and firing electricity out of my hands,” Mark Strong offered.

Zachary Levi Shazam training

Speaking of training, it’s known that Zachary Levi has been working out to sculpt his body to become the superhero Shazam, with it recently said that Levi was spotted looking all jacked

Zachary Levi  “definitely has the strength of Hercules, is absolutely freaking JACKED [right now], and is gonna totally kill it,” a Twitter user posted.

Levi has also stated he wants Gal Gadot Wonder Woman to appear in Shazam!

“I think getting a cameo from anybody would be super cool, but I just think Gal Gadot is so effervescent. She has such a charm. And she seems like a really cool broad. Like, she was in the Israeli army. She’s a mom. And I’m like, ‘You seem like you’re grounded and cool, and you’re Wonder Woman, and you rock,’” Levi said. “And I think it would be really funny to have the 14-year-old Billy Batson inside of Shazam that’s really awkward around this beautiful Amazonian. I just think that would be really awesome.”

Henry Cavill Superman

Zachary Levi happened to also name drop a second member of the Justice League, but more in tone with the movie.

“I can’t tell you much, as you can probably imagine, but what I can say is I am just out of my mind excited!” Levi said. “I get to do my version of Big, basically. It’s like Superman meets Big, and that’s just so fun. I get to be a superhero that’s excited about being a superhero, and I think that’s refreshing. It’s not glum, and like, ‘Oh, I have to save the world again.’ So I think it’s all really gravy.”

Shazam! has an April 5, 2019 release also starring Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene, Jovan Armand as Pedro, with Cooper Andrews.
