Mary Poppins returns!
Yep! That’s the name of the new movie which will see Emily Blunt play the titular character. Disney released a first look image.
Mary Poppins Returns is currently filming in London for its December 25, 2018 release and also stars Meryl Streep, as Topsy, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, Colin Firth as William Weatherall Wilkins, Angela Lansbury as the Balloon Lady, Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, Julie Walters as Ellen, Dick Van Dyke as Mr. Dawes Jr., and Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks. Rob Marshal is directing.
Drawing from the wealth of material in P.L. Travers’ seven additional novels, the story will take place in Depression-era London (when the books were originally written) and follows a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, who, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.
The first Mary Poppins movie debuted in 1964 starring Julie Andrews.
