Stephen Amell Squashes Jensen Ackles Batman Rumors

Tons of set images from the upcoming Arrowverse Elseworlds crossover have hit the net with none other than Supernatural star Jensen Ackles spotted on set leading to speculation he is playing Batman.

However, Stephen Amell took to Twitter to quickly squash any thought of Jensen Ackles playing the Arrowverse Dark Knight.

“Let me squash this rumor right now. Jensen Ackles was on set tonight because he’s Grant Gustin’s #2 fan (I’m #1) and not because he’s playing The Batman,,” Stephen Amell tweeted.

As the crossover features alternate Earths, with Jensen Ackles spotted on set, it was hoped he was playing Batman. The crossover is introducing Batwoman as well as Gotham City, so Batman obviously sounded like a no-brainer. It’s known that Grant Gustin will be featured as Green Arrow, Stephen Amell will be playing The Flash, and John Wesley Shipp reprises his 90s role as The Flash.

Batman in the Arrowverse was said to be possible a couple of years ago, with a cool fan theory offering how it could be done.

Back in 2013, prior to Ben Affleck being cast, Jensen Ackles offered up he wouldn’t mind playing Batman.

“Any guy in his right mind would die to play Batman,” Ackles said about playing the new Caped Crusader opposite Henry Cavill. “It would be a dream come true.”

The Elseworlds crossover also stars Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, and introduces Ruby Rose as Batwoman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Cassandra Jean Amell as Nora Fries, Jeremy Davies has been cast in the role of Dr. John Deegan, a doctor at Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane who might be crazier than the inmates he treats, LaMonica Garret is playing The Monitor, an extraterrestrial being of infinite power, with John Wesley Shipp reprising his 90s Flash role.

The three-night Arrowverse crossover airs Sunday, Dec. 9 with The Flash, followed by Monday, Dec. 10 with Arrow, and concludes Tuesday, Dec. 11 with Supergirl.
