The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman Filming Halted

Filming on The CW DC shows, The Flash, Supergirl and Batwoman, has been halted due to fears surrounding the coronavirus.

Filming on The Flash has been suspended as of Friday as unit manager Brent Crowell announced the shutdown “until further notice” in a note to the cast and crew, with everyone advised not to report to work.

It’s further reported filming on Supergirl and Batwoman has been paused pending the coronavirus outbreak as well.

The shows film in Vancouver, Canada.

It’s unknown if the stoppage on filming will delay the release of new episodes.

Coronavirus fears impacting the entertainment industry

Warner Television group released the following statement:

With the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, Warner Bros. Television Group is halting production on some of our 70+ series and pilots currently filming or about to begin,” the company saiid in a statement. “The health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority. During this time, we will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control as well as local officials and public health professionals in each city where our productions are based.

WarnerMedia has also told its staff to work from home:

“Beginning Monday, March 16, all WarnerMedia employees around the world who are able to work remotely are encouraged to do so until further notice,” John Stankey, president and COO of AT&T and WarnerMedia’s CEO, said in a memo to staff Friday.

The fears surrounding the coronavirus have also seen Disney halt production on most of its live-action films including Shang-Chi, and Disney has also closed its theme parks.

Movie release dates are also getting delayed as releases for various films have been postponed including James Bond, FF9, A Quite Place II, New Mutants and Mulan.

Various events have been canceled including WonderCon, CinemaCon and the Tribeca Film Festival.

Major league sports have also been canceled including NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS.  

AMC and Regal theaters have also announced they are limiting theaters to 50% capacity.
