Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Box Office Brings Home $181 Million Opener

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Box Office Brings Home $181 Million Opener

The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever box office brings home a $181 million opening weekend which is right in line with the estimates.

Thursday saw the flick bring in $28 million; Friday brought in $56 million; Saturday brought in $56.5 million, and Sunday brought in $40.5 million.

The numbers are more in line with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which opened higher at $187.4 million.

The daily dips are also similar as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever went from Friday (which includes Thursday) to Saturday with a decline of 32.7%, and from Saturday to Sunday with a decline of 28.3%.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness went from Friday to Saturday with a decline of 36.3%, and from Saturday to Sunday a decline of 32.7%.

The first Black Panther opened to $202 million, but as I said, saw unheard-of dips of only 13.1% on Saturday and 9% on Sunday.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in line with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness finished with a $955.775 million box office, so it looks like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will finish around the same — yep, looking like under a billion as there are no China, Russia, and Ukraine releases, and it’s looking like the flick is underperforming in the Asian markets.

Internationally adds another $150 million for a current worldwide gross of $331 million, which is also pretty much in line with estimates, though Deadline at one time was estimating a $365 million worldwide opening.

It will be interesting to see if the flick has any legs or if it will suffer a big second-weekend drop and continue downhill.

The Rotten Tomatoes Scores are still consistent as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has an 84% Critics Score and a whopping 95% Audience Score from fans, so at least the fans that went to see it are liking it.

Its IMDb rating is a 7.4, in line with the first film’s 7.3.

Note: The article has been revised to reflect that the originally reported domestic box office of $180 million has been changed due to Disney reporting on Monday that Sunday brought in $1 million more than the $39.5 million first reported.
