Capcom has officially confirmed Resident Evil Requiem as the next main entry in the long-running horror series. Formerly referred to as Resident Evil 9, the game is set to release on February 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

First Trailer Reveals New Tone and Setting
The Resident Evil Requiem trailer debuted during Summer Game Fest 2025, introduced by Geoff Keighley, who called it a “bold shift” for the series in both tone and gameplay. While it sticks to single-player survival horror, the footage hints at expanded cinematic action and possibly even open-world elements.
The trailer opens with shots of a ruined Raccoon City — confirming its destruction following the events of Resident Evil 3. We also get a quick glimpse of the Raccoon City Police Department in shambles.

New Character: Grace Ashcroft
A new protagonist appears to be at the center of Resident Evil Requiem. Grace Ashcroft, an FBI technical analyst, is investigating a series of bizarre deaths. Her investigation forces her to revisit the scene of her mother’s murder, where she’s soon captured and strapped to a gurney.
A shadowy figure tells Grace, “I know now that you’re the one I’ve been searching for… special one. Chosen one.” It’s unclear what this means, but Capcom appears to be leaning into psychological horror alongside the usual biohazard threats.

Capcom’s Official Description
