Resident Evil Requiem is off to a huge start.
Director Koshi Nakanishi thanked fans after Capcom’s latest Resident Evil game sold more than 5 million copies worldwide in less than a week, which has it tracking as the fastest-selling entry in the franchise.
Nakanishi used the update video to reveal that a Story Expansion DLC is now in development.

Koshi Nakanishi thanks fans after big launch
The 5 million figure is another major win for Capcom, as Resident Evil Requiem has quickly become one of the company’s top-selling releases.
The strong launch follows what has also been described as the biggest Steam debut in Resident Evil history, beating the early player counts for Resident Evil 4 Remake.
For Capcom, it means Resident Evil Requiem is not only a hit with longtime fans but also one of the biggest game launches of 2026.

Story Expansion DLC is on the way
The bigger surprise is that Nakanishi also unveiled a forthcoming Story Expansion DLC.
Capcom is already working on extra story content that will dig deeper into the game’s world.
Capcom has not announced a release date or story details yet, but the move isn’t surprising. With Resident Evil Requiem opening this strong, more content was always likely going to follow.

More updates are reportedly planned
Along with the story expansion, Capcom has more post-launch content in the pipeline, including a photo mode, a bonus mini-game, and another surprise update planned for May.
That should give Resident Evil fans even more to look forward to as Capcom keeps the momentum going.
