It has recently been rumored that Marvel is considering a She-Hulk Season 2; however, we believe that’s wishful thinking.
The series is one of the least-watched MCU shows on Disney+ and among the most expensive. More importantly, She-Hulk has not been well received by fans.
Additionally, Marvel has yet to make an official announcement about a second season.
Here are ten reasons why She-Hulk Season 2 likely won’t ever happen.
1. Too expensive
With a reported budget of $225 million for its nine-episode run, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law stands as one of Marvel’s most expensive television productions. Despite this significant investment, the series did not attract a sufficient viewership to justify its high costs. Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed streaming lost them $4 billion.
Marvel is now focusing on much cheaper shows and recently revamped its TV division following the major failure of the equally expensive Secret Invasion series. Marvel also recently released Agatha, which reportedly cost only $40 million. Going forward, expect more shows with similar budgets. She-Hulk is simply too expensive.
2. Tatiana Maslany expressed skepticism
Speaking of expensive, Tatiana Maslany, has said She-Hulk Season 2 isn’t happening.
“I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No thanks,’” she said back in January.
With the show’s star expressing doubt and skepticism, it further supports the idea that a second season will never happen and that the series has effectively been canceled.
3. Tatiana Maslany: controversial comments about Bob Iger
Tatiana Maslany has been the center of controversy regarding comments made about Bob Iger as well as politically-driven remarks.
Tatiana Maslany blasted Disney CEO Bob Iger during the Summer of 2023 over his comments about the strikes where she said, “I think he’s completely out of touch. He’s completely out of touch with the workers who make his shows happen, who make people watch these shows, who bring viewers to him and him money. Having worked on a Disney show, I know where people fall through the cracks and where people are taken advantage of and it’s outrageous the amount of wealth that is not shared with the people who actually make the show. That’s crew, cast, writers.”
It’s never a good thing to get on the boss’ bad side.
4. Tatiana Maslany: controversial comments about parents rights
Regarding her politically-driven remarks, Tatiana Maslany came out against parent rights.
“It should not be in the control of parents how a child identifies. How a child knows them self to be. That isn’t a parent’s place – it’s an overreach,” she said in June. “It’s an overreach on the part of the provincial government to legislate that. It’s absurd.”
She continued, “Children have rights. Children are human beings who have knowledge and who know themselves and we should be taking cues from them. In so many ways, we should be taking cues from them. Listening to them, empowering them to know who they are and to name that.”
Maslany added, “It’s their right. It’s not the parent’s right.”
Many fans are tired of being lectured by celebrities and may avoid projects they feel are driven by an agenda.
5. Low ratings
When it comes down to it, the budget and any perceived backlash might not matter if She-Hulk was a smash hit.
The first episode of She-Hulk failed to appear on the Nielsen charts. At the time, the lowest-ranking show on the chart had 395 million minutes viewed, meaning She-Hulk’s debut episode fell below that threshold. Subsequent episodes consistently stayed in the 300-400 million minute range, with one episode failing to make the charts entirely. The final episode, which referenced Kevin Feige and the X-Men, achieved the series’ highest viewership at 526 million minutes.
6. Poor reception
With the low ratings comes poor reception from the fans.
She-Hulk is the lowest-rated Marvel project on Rotten Tomatoes from fans with a score of only 32%, even lower than Inhumans, Iron Fist, Captain Marvel, Inhumans and Echo.
7. Marvel moving to proven concepts
As we have gone over why Eternals 2 and Shang-Chi 2 are also unlikely to happen, Marvel is moving to proven concepts that actually work.
The movie side of things is bringing back Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers. Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman just made over $1.3 billion.
Just as our insiders said, the TV side of things sees Marvel retooling Daredevil: Born Again to make the series more like its popular Netflix counterpart.
Disney has also removed She-Hulk from official Disney+ artwork and replaced the character with Deadpool.
8. No MCU connections
Also just like Eternals 2 and Shang-Chi 2, She-Hulk has no MCU connections as the series went nowhere.
Marvel likely hasn’t included She-Hulk in the greater MCU because of all the aforementioned reasons.
According to our insiders, Marvel’s original plan for their Daredevil series was to adopt a goofy tone, similar to how the character appeared in She-Hulk, which itself leaned heavily into comedy. However, Marvel’s decision to retool Daredevil to be more serious, akin to the Netflix series, suggests there is little interest in producing another goofy and lighthearted She-Hulk season.
9. Disney pulling back on Marvel
With Bob Iger confirming a big $4 billion streaming loss, he has also said Disney is pulling back on Marvel.
Marvel is said to be limiting its number of movie releases in theaters and TV releases on Disney+.
Following Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, and Wonder Man, all that is presently confirmed is a second season for Daredevil, which is really just the second half of Season 1. It’s not expected that both Ironheart and Wonder Man will be big hits, which also likely means they won’t be getting second seasons.
10. Too woke
Fans are tired of the lecturing and tired of the agenda. She-Hulk came about during Marvel’s woke Phase 4 which completely failed.
According to rumors, Marvel has fired its woke producers who have ruined the brand. Recall how She-Hulk had to change the character’s origin so her male cousin wouldn’t be her savior. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk has also become a big bitch. Skaar was also given a man-bun, reportedly at the request of Kevin Feige who decided not to go with the much better bad ass comic book look of the character.
It’s hoped that Marvel has finally seen the light and will return to quality story instead of prioritizing an agenda. Again, it’s failed big time. Recently saw The Marvels mega bomb so bad it lost Disney $200 million.
