Netflix announces that Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods anime will debut in the fall and released new images from the upcoming series.
A teaser announcement announces the series will debut September 19, 2024 only on Netflix. Watch below.
What is Twilight of the Gods about?
Twilight of the Gods is an animated twist on ancient Norse mythology featuring a star-stuffed cast which includes Sylvia Hoeks as Sigrid, Stuart Martin as Leif, Pilou Asbæk as Thor, John Noble as Odin, Paterson Joseph as Loki, Rahul Kohli as Egill, Jamie Clayton as The Seid-Kona, Kristopher Hivju as Advari, Peter Stormare as Ulfr, Jamie Chung as Hel, Lauren Cohan as Inge, and Corey Stoll as Hrafnke.
In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love.
On their wedding night, Sigrid and Leif survive a wrath of terror from Thor (Pilou Asbæk), which sets them — and a crew of crusaders — on a merciless mission for vengeance, against all odds.
This heroic story of love, loss, and revenge, is a journey to hell and beyond … across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against deities and demons.
The series is co-created by Jay Oliva and Eric Carrasco, with Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Oliva also executive-producing. Zack Snyder, Oliva, Tim Divar, Andrew Tamandl, and David Hartman will all be directing episodes.
“It’s my take on Norse mythology and it’s really cool,” Snyder previously said.
“We’re doing it with Digital Dimension who are doing the animation and it’s just going to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen,” said Snyder. “Because in animation, we can do anything we want which is so fun, and fun for all of us. As the creatives involved, we just can go nuts, and I think you’re going to love it.”
