Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon Game Flops on Netflix, Following Likely Franchise Cancellation

With it looking like Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon franchise is dead, the franchise just took another hit, as the mobile game Blood Line failed to chart in Netflix’s most-played rankings.

Rebel Moon’s Game Misses Netflix’s Top 15

According to data reported by Variety and compiled by What’s on Netflix, Rebel Moon: Blood Line, which launched July 15, didn’t even crack the Top 15 list of most-played Netflix games globally between May 7 and August 12.

Netflix hasn’t released official data, but the rankings are based on which mobile games earned a “Top 10” badge in global playtime on the app.

Games that did make the list include Squid Game: Unleashed, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Football Manager 2024, and even World of Peppa Pig.

Squid Game and Black Mirror Boosted by Shows

Games tied to successful Netflix shows performed strongly. Squid Game: Unleashed and Black Mirror: Thronglets saw playtime spikes thanks to new seasons debuting during the same period.

But despite Netflix’s heavy promotion of Rebel Moon, its tie-in game failed to gain traction. That’s not a good sign especially after poor viewership and reviews for the two films and no current plans for more movies.

Another Nail in Rebel Moon’s Coffin?

Snyder recently told Variety he’s not sure when or if Rebel Moon will continue, and his co-writer previously admitted it would take a miracle to make more movies.

Now, the game flopping just adds to the mounting evidence that Rebel Moon is done for at Netflix.

Next for Zack Snyder at Netflix is his untitled action thriller about the LA police.
