Venom Breaks Another Box Office Record

Venom Breaks Another Box Office Record

Venom has broken another record at the box office as it now also scores the best Monday in October.

Yesterday for Columbus Day saw Venom bring in $9.6 million, which beats out the previous record holder of Gravity‘s $6.2 million.

Venom is now just under $90 million for its four-day opening with $89,887,099; it’s three-day opening weekend has been a record-breaker as well.

Its foreign gross is currently at $127,152,882, which gives the flick a current worldwide box office gross of $217,039,981.

Venom box office

It will be interesting to see what the movie does next weekend – if it has a large drop or not – as Sony is banking on Venom to create its shared Spider-Man spinoff universe, which includes movies for Morbius the Living Vampire starring Jared Leto, solo films for both Black Cat and Silver Sable, and additional movies for characters such as Kraven, Nightwatch, Silk and Jackpot.

It has also been reported Sony wants Venom to connect to Spider-Man, who is currently at Marvel Studios, and that Sony wants their Spider-Man spinoff movie universe to connect to the MCU and even the Avengers.

Yesterday saw the rumor hit suggesting that is indeed a possibility as reportedly Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige want to use Norman Osborn in the MCU, possibly in a Dark Avengers film.

A quick check of Rotten Tomatoes reveals Venom at 31% with 67 Fresh reviews to 152 Rotten, but the audience score is quite the opposite coming in at a strong 89% with over 22,000 votes.

You can check out my thoughts in the video below, where I offer I did like the movie.
