Paramount’s Transformers future is still in motion, and according to a recent report, Skydance’s new leadership will soon review multiple scripts in development, including one that reportedly has Michael Bay returning to the franchise.
Skydance to Evaluate Three Transformers Scripts
As part of a larger industry presentation highlighting Skydance’s post-merger priorities, Deadline reports that the three separate Transformers scripts that have been in development are under review.
One of those scripts is said to include Michael Bay’s return, while the other two are separate takes on where to take the franchise next.
These projects were being worked on prior to the Paramount sale, and are now set to be reviewed by Skydance’s new leadership group, including Dana Goldberg and David Ellison.

Transformers Franchise Status
Paramount’s recent Transformers output includes:
- Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023) — $442M global box office
- Transformers One (2024) — Animated prequel, considered a misfire
- Cyberworld — A new YouTube animated series and toy line that launched in July
Bay directed the first five Transformers movies, which generated billions globally. While The Last Knight ended his run in 2017, his potential return would mark a notable reboot for the franchise.

Skydance Signals Big IP Focus
This news follows Skydance’s public remarks that Star Trek is a priority moving forward and the focus on its big IPs.
While no official announcements were made about Transformers yet, the fact that Bay’s version is being considered again signals a potential shift toward high-concept blockbusters with proven names attached.
