Watch: Star Wars Rebels Princess Leia Clip

Princess Leia is coming to Star Wars Rebels.

Check out a clip above featuring her arrival, with Princess Leia being voiced by Julie Dolan.

In this clip from the Star Wars Rebels episode “A Princess on Lothal,” Kanan and Ezra don stormtrooper armor to welcome a new ally: Princess Leia.

Watch “A Princess on Lothal” on January 20, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Disney XD!

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23782:]]

The Ghost crew is back, and they’re bringing Star Wars royalty with them.

Star Wars Rebels returns with “A Princess on Lothal,” a brand new episode featuring Princess Leia, on January 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Disney XD. Set three years before the events of A New Hope, Leia is introduced as a young leader on her way to becoming the strong, more resolute character portrayed in the original trilogy.

“One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that she is part of the Empire at this point,” says executive producer / supervising director Dave Filoni. “She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost as a double agent. The Empire sees her as a privileged princess who runs mercy missions to wayward worlds, but in truth she is much stronger and more dangerous than they imagine.”

Appearing in her only episode of the season, the young Princess Leia is voiced by Julie Dolan, who also lent her vocal talents to the Rebel leader featured in Disney’s Star Tours attraction. Her character’s appearance in Star Wars Rebels portrays the beginnings of the seasoned general we meet again in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, her royal heritage all but eclipsed by her hard-won military stature.

“There really is no other character quite like her,” says Filoni. “And to quote The Force Awakens’ Lor San Tekka, ‘She’ll always be royalty to me.’”

Gorilla Grodd Planned Long-Term For The Flash

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23744:]]

Last we saw of Grodd in The Flash he was off to Gorilla City, and while that’s the last we’ll see of the mind-controlling gorilla this Season, it’s learned more is to come.

The Flash Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg offered they are building up Grodd much like they did with the Arrow villain, Ra’s Al Ghul, which may mean Grodd as potential main bad guy in Season 3 or later down the road.

“I would liken the Gorilla City thing to Ra’s al Ghul. You know, you hear about “the man from nanda part” in [Arrow] Season 1, and “the man who showed Malcolm the way,” and then you met Nyssa, then in Season 3 you met Ra’s. So, it’s a long-term thing.”

Mark Hamill & Kevin Conroy Tease Batman: The Killing Joke Animated Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23743:]]

This Summer’s San Diego Comic-Con will see the premiere of the Batman: The Killing Joke animated movie, which will feature veteran voice actor Kevin Conroy back as the Caped Crusader along with Mark Hamill reprising as The Joker.

The duo recently took to Twitter to post an image of themselves.

“I finally caught my favorite villain! Bats nabs Joker,” Conroy posted on Twitter.

Bruce Timm is behind the project and also recently revealed the Batman: The Killing Joke animated movie will feature original footage not a part of the comic.

“The source material is not long enough to make a feature film out of,” Bruce Timm offered. “So we actually had to add a lot more story to it, which is tricky, but I think we came up with a really good solution on how that worked.”

The graphic novel is described by Amazon as:

According to the grinning engine of madness and mayhem known as The Joker, that’s all that separates the sane from the psychotic. Freed once again from the confines of Arkham Asylum, he’s out to prove his deranged point. And he¿s going to use Gotham City’s top cop, Commissioner Jim Gordon, and his brilliant and beautiful daughter Barbara to do it.

Now Batman must race to stop his archnemesis before his reign of terror claims two of the Dark Knight’s closest friends. Can he finally put an end to the cycle of bloodlust and lunacy that links these two iconic foes before it leads to its fatal conclusion? And as the horrifying origin of the Clown Prince of Crime is finally revealed, will the thin line that separates Batman’s nobility and The Joker’s insanity snap once and for all?

Kevin Smith Directing An Episode Of The Flash

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23724:]]

Kevin Smith will be directing an episode of The Flash.

EW.com reports Smith will direct an episode of The Flash, which is due to air in May. The CW announced the news at the Television Critics Association’s press tour earlier today.

Kevin Smith, of course, is known to be a big comic book fan having written issues of Batman, Daredevil, and lots more. Smith also penned the defunct Superman Lives script and has his Comic Book Men series airing on AMC. Smith’s voice was recently featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is regularly involved with promoting Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad.

Update: Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg also offered the following about having Kevin Smith direct an episode (via Collider):

“I literally got a phone call from his agent saying that Kevin Smith’s favorite show is The Flash, and if was there an episode for him, and the answer was yes. It was really that simple. I didn’t know him personally, I’ve just been such a huge fan of his work.”

…But of course, there’s the whole publicity angle of it, as well:

“As responsible executive producers, we always have to look at that, but we would never look at that at the expense of our own show. Knowing what a fan he is, and knowing the scrutiny he’s going to be under, I know he’s going to bring it to his fullest, and I’m just so excited.”

“The Flash” returns Tuesday, January 19th on the CW at 8pm ET starring Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh and Jesse L. Martin.

No Crypt Keeper Rumored For Tales From The Crypt Reboot & More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23705:]]

Earlier saw news that TNT is rebooting Tales From The Crypt, which will have M. Night Shyamalan on board as executive producer.

Now a batch of rumors/details have hit the net from the horror site Bloody Disgusting, with the perhaps most shocking being the Crypt Keeper won’t be used.

The actor that voiced the Crypt Keeper, John Kassir, even tweeted out: “I’ll go on record, “Crypt Keeper as we know him is more popular than ever & it’d be a sham/shame not to have him host the show!!!!!” A petition to bring back the Crypt Keeper has since been launched.

As noted, it gets a lot worse:

• It’s said the new host of the show will be an old man with a cane, wearing a hood, and keeping warm by a fireplace (which admittedly, is in line with the old EC comics).

• According to the report, the original plan (it’s unknown if things have since changed), is to have 13 episodes in the style of American Horror Story (one storyline per season).

• It’s further said the first season will be about voodoo in New Orleans (which American Horror Story already featured).

• It’s also said the Tales From The Crypt reboot won’t be a weekly anthology story, and won’t have anything to do with the comics.

• It’s scripted by the writers behing Hemlock Grove, in which the site describes as “awful.”

Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things – wine, women and song – when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux. For the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him as a result of this murder. Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him – as well as his best friend and confidante, MAZIKEEN aka MAZE (Lesley-Ann Brandt, “The Librarians”), a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman. The murder attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective CHLOE DANCER (Lauren German, “Chicago Fire”), who initially is dismissive of Lucifer. Accustomed to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer is intrigued by Chloe’s apparent purity and begins to wonder if there’s hope for his own soul yet. At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel AMENADIEL (DB Woodside, “Suits,” “24”), has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to the underworld…can the Devil incarnate be tempted toward the side of Good, or will his original calling pull him back toward Evil?

Titans TV Series Cancelled Because of Script

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23665:]]

Yesterday saw the news that TNT had passed on the planned DC Titans TV series.

Now Kevin Reilly, TNT’s chief creative officer tells the reason why to THR:

How much of the decision not to move forward with the DC Comics project Titans, also from Warner Bros., was based on the fact that you don’t own it?

It wasn’t. Akiva [Goldsman] is a talented guy, [but] the script just wasn’t there. There is an unbelievable glut of superhero things in the market right now and if you have a really good one, clearly people are up for it. But I just don’t think that there’s a need for one that, for me, at least on paper didn’t seem to be screaming to get made.

The Titans series was said to have been possibly in the same universe as Arrow and The Flash centering on Dick Grayson as Robin, who would eventuall have gone on to become Nightwing, and was working as a private detective in Boston. Titans was also said to include Barbara Gordon, Hawk and Dove, and Starfire, with Cyborg and Beast Boy as possibilities down the road.

There’s speculation some of the Titans characters may be featured in the WB movie universe (Cyborg is confirmed), but that’s all it’s really to be considered right now.

The series centers on Quentin, a brilliant grad student chosen to attend Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic. He and his 20-something friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real – and poses grave danger to humanity.

·  Michael Cassidy as James, the well-educated, privileged and confident, long-time best friend to Quentin Coldwater and also Julia’s boyfriend. Cassidy is best known for his starring role in TNT’s Men at Work. He started his career with a recurring role on Fox’s The O.C., before being cast on The CW’s Smallville and Privileged. In the TV world, he is recurring on NBC’s Aquarius, USA’s Satisfaction, Starz’s Survivor’s Remorse and TNT’s Murder in the First. In the past, he has recurred on HBO’s Luck and booked guest leads on AMC’s Mad Men, Showtime’s Masters of Sex, Netflix’s House of Cards and TNT’s Major Crimes.

· David Call as Pete, a mild-looking, buttoned-down guy who is equally comfortable being relaxed and laid back as he is being dangerous. Best known for his extensive work in NY independent films, Call starred with Lena Dunham in her feature film Tiny Furniture. He can be next seen as the lead role in Americana with Kelli Garner and James White with Christopher Abbott. His TV credits include recurring roles on Fox’s Fringe, The CW’s Gossip Girl and NBC’s Smash.

· Kacey Rohl as Marina, a bookish young woman who gives off the impression of being both depressed and underemployed to cover up a very different persona. Rohl got her start on TV playing Sterling Fitch on AMC’s The Killing and appeared as Prudence in the dark fantasy film Red Riding Hood. Most recently, she appeared on NBC’s Hannibal and Working the Engels.

· Tembi Locke as Doctor London, a psychiatrist on a psychiatric ward in a New York City hospital who is charged with Quentin’s care. Universal Cable Productions will serve as the studio.

Lev Grossman’s The Magicians trilogy is an international sensation, published and widely praised in more than twenty countries. The epic conclusion to the series, The Magician’s Land, opened at #1 last summer on the New York Times Hardcover Best Seller’s list, and was widely acclaimed as one of the best books of the year.

THE MAGICIANS joins other high profile 2016 Syfy originals, including the epic space drama THE EXPANSE, starring Thomas Jane, Steven Strait and Shohreh Aghdashloo; the acclaimed time travel thriller 12 MONKEYS, returning for its second season in April; and HUNTERS, a 13-episode thriller from The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, set to premiere in April. 12 MONKEYS and HUNTERS are also from Universal Cable Productions.

Inhumans Movie To Be Separate From Agents Of SHIELD

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23685:]]

It’s learned the Inhumans movie more than likely will not be connected to Agents of SHIELD.

Clark Gregg spoke with Digital Spy and offered the Inhumans film will be its own thing.

The Inhumans movie I suspect will be its own cinematic version. That writer and director will have free reign to do what they want to do with the Inhumans. But hopefully there’ll be some way that our Inhumans connect to that. It’d be too bad if that was wasted.

What’s kind of necessary for the show to work is that it is its own thing and it’s not dependant upon those crossovers. They’re just fun stuff that happens once in a while.

They destroy the organisation our show is named after and we have to deal with that! I’ll be interested to see how it evolves, that crossover stuff.

The news shouldn’t be all that surprising as the Marvel movies have yet to mention Agents Of SHIELD. In addition, Kevin Feige recently parted ways with the people that run Marvel TV over creative differences.

It’s even been said Marvel Studios may scrap the Inhumans movie altogether.

Inhumans has a July 12, 2019 release; Vin Diesel appears to be vying for the role of Black Bolt and has recommended Rose Leslie for a role.
