The Taylor Swift: Eras Tour that debuts this coming weekend is crushing it in terms of ticket sales and is even beating the likes of the billion-dollar Barbie movie and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Not only is the movie theater business benefiting but the NFL is as well due to the Swifties tuning in to see Taylor Swift watching her current main man, Travis Kelce, the Tight End of the Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Marvel fans are also speculating Taylor Swift might be MCU-bound and that she is appearing in Deadpool 3 as the singing and dancing mutie, Dazzler. Last week, the singer was spotted with Deadpool 3’s Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy at the Chiefs vs Jets game.
Update: Ticket sales are nowhere near Barbie and Spidey.
Taking up 99% of presales ticket activity
Regarding ticket sales for Taylor Swift: Eras Tour, Deadline reports, a massive 99% of the presales ticket activity for this weekend is for the event.; so it was smart of various movies to move away and off the Friday, Oct. 13 release date as everyone is going to see Taylor Swift.
It’s too bad for movie studios, but again, movie theaters are benefiting big time.
Regarding Barbie and Spidey, Deadline says the Taylor Swift: Eras Tour is lining up to outpace those moves in terms of the Friday box office as box office analytics firm EntTelligence is observing sellouts.
Barbie opened its first Friday with $70.5 million, and Spider-Man: No Way Home opened with $121.9 million, so if those projected numbers for the Eras Tour are correct, the box office for Taylor Swift will be simply huge.
Estimates offer the Eras Tour will open to $150 million worldwide or more, with a whopping $100 million of that in the U.S. or more.
Barbie opened to $162 million back in July and went on to bring in $1.4 billion worldwide.
Spider-Man: No Way Home opened to $260 million back in December of 2021 and brought in close to $2 billion.
