First Look At Pennywise Costume In “It”

Following the close-up look, now a full view of Bill Skarsgard in costume as Pennywise the Clown from the upcoming Stephen King It feature film has been released.

“The costume definitely incorporates all these otherworldly past lives, if you will,” Emmy-winning costume designer Janie Bryant told EW.com. “He is definitely a clown from a different time.

“That pleating is actually Fortuny pleating, which gives it almost a crepe-like effect,” Bryant continued. “It’s a different technique than what the Elizabethans would do. It’s more organic, it’s more sheer. It has a whimsical, floppy quality to it. It’s not a direct translation of a ruff or a whisk, which were two of the collars popular during the Elizabethan period. There is almost a doll-like quality to the costume. The pants being short, the high waistline of the jacket, and the fit of the costume is a very important element. It gives the character a child-like quality,” Bryant said.

“If you look at the sleeves, there are the two puffs off the shoulder and biceps and again on the bloomers, I wanted it to have an organic, gourd or pumpkin kind of effect,” Bryant offered. “It helps exaggerate certain parts of the body. The costume is very nipped in the waist and with the peplum and bloomers it has an expansive silhouette. The pompoms are orange, and then with the trim around the cuffs and the ankles, it’s basically a ball fringe that’s a combination of orange, red, and cinnamon. It’s almost like Pennywise fades into his environment. But there are accents to pull out the definition of the gray silk.”

Check out both the Pennywise images below.

“It” has a September 8, 2017 release directed by Andrés Muschietti (“Mama”) also starring Owen Teague, Jaeden Lieberher, Nicholas Hamilton, Steven Williams, Megan Charpentier, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Stephen Bogaert, Ari Cohen, Jack Grazer, Chosen Jacobs and Javier Botet.

First Look At Pennywise the Clown In New “It” 2017 Movie

Check out a first look at Pennywise the Clown in the upcoming Stephen King It feature film.

Bill Skarsgård plays the character.

“It’s such an extreme character. Inhumane,” Skarsgård told EW. “It’s beyond even a sociopath, because he’s not even human. He’s not even a clown. I’m playing just one of the beings It creates.”

A TV mini-series for It aired in the ’90s, but Skarsgård notes they are doing a fresh take on Stephen King’s classic story.

“It’s important that we do something fresh and original for this one. It’s purposely not going toward that weird, greasy look,” said Skarsgård.

Regarding the creature, It:

“It truly enjoys the shape of the clown Pennywise, and enjoys the game and the hunt,” the actor says. “What’s funny to this evil entity might not be funny to everyone else. But he thinks it’s funny.”

It has a September 8, 2017 release directed by Andrés Muschietti (Mama) also starring Owen Teague, Jaeden Lieberher, Nicholas Hamilton, Steven Williams, Megan Charpentier, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Stephen Bogaert, Ari Cohen, Jack Grazer, Chosen Jacobs and Javier Botet.

SPIKE TV ORDERS “THE MIST” PRODUCTION PILOT FROM DIMENSION TELEVISION

Series Based On Classic Stephen King Novella

Spike has ordered a production pilot from Dimension Television based on the classic Stephen King novella, “The Mist.” The Spike original scripted series tells a harrowing story about a seemingly innocuous mist that seeps into a small town and creates immense havoc. This will be the first production pilot for a Spike scripted dramatic series since the network’s shift towards general entertainment.

Christian Torpe serves as the Executive Producer for Spike’s “The Mist.” Torpe created the successful show RITA in Denmark, now finishing its fourth season, and has developed programming for both Showtime and AMC.

“We are thrilled to join forces with the incredibly creative Christian Torpe and Dimension Films to develop Stephen King’s enthralling novella to a compelling series unlike anything else on television,” said Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike.

“We are excited to be in business with Spike on their first scripted production pilot and working with the very talented Christian Torpe to further explore Stephen King’s classic novella and bring this riveting series to television audiences,” said Bob Weinstein, Co-Chariman The Weinstein Company.

Megan Spanjian, VP of Scripted TV, was instrumental in finding and bringing Torpe to the table and will oversee the project for Dimension TV along with Matthew Signer, EVP of Production and Creative Affairs, and Keith Levine, SVP of Production and Development. Torpe is repped by ICM.

Levy, Ted Gold, Senior Vice President, Scripted Original Series, and Lauren Ruggiero, Senior Director, Scripted Programming will oversee the project.

Spike TV debuted its first scripted event series in eight years, “Tut,” last July to strong ratings and has recently ordered to series, “Red Mars” based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s award-winning “Mars Trilogy.”

Dimension TV debuted its first scripted series SCREAM, which was an adaptation of the hit horror film franchise, with MTV. With a successful first season, SCREAM TV was picked up for Season 2 and is in production.

Stephen King’s Exclusive Horror Web-Comic Goes Live Today (10/15/12)!

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3551:]]

That’s right, folks! Just in time for the Halloween season, www.stephenking.com has created it’s first ever exclusive horror web comic about Mr. King’s short story, “The Little Green God of Agony.”

First published in Stephen Jones’s 2011 anthology, “A Book of Horrors”, “The Little Green God of Agony” is a tale told from the point of view of a paraplegic millionaire’s nurse. Katherine “Kat” MacDonald is convinced that her patient could overcome his injuries and pain that he sustained in an airplane crash, if he would just try to endure the pain of his physical therapy. But, Andrew Newsome is just looking for the quick fix. Instead of pushing through the excruciating pain, he turns to a less conventional method. He hires a healer named, Reverend Rideout, who has promised to “expel” his pain!

Drawn by comic artist Dennis Calero (Legion of Super-Heroes, X-Factor), this exclusive web-comic will be released every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the next eight weeks — starting today!

So head on over to www.stephenking.com and check out Episode 1! It will definitely help get you in the mood for the scariest time of the year. But, don’t take my word for it, this is what the Master of Horror himself had to say about it: “It rocks most righteously!”

Stephen King’s new short story, “Batman and Robin have an altercation,” will debut from Harper’s Magazine on 8/28/12!

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2686:]]

The September issue of Harper’s Magazine, hitting shelves on 8/28/12, will feature a brand new short story from the “master of horror” — Stephen King! Although the tale is titled, “Batman and Robin have an altercation,” it has nothing to do with the “Dynamic Duo” in any way. Rather, it is about a middle-aged man dealing with his Alzheimer’s afflicted father.

For three years, Sanderson has taken his father to lunch every week, to the same place and has had the same exact conversation. Until one day, while being brutally assaulted, Sanderson is saved by his father. A single moment of clarity after years of confusion, one that might change reality as they both know it!

Though the issue doesn’t hit shelves for five more days, you can subscribe to Harper’s Magazine and read it now! But, if you want a little more information before you buy, here is an excerpt for your viewing pleasure. Courtesy of Harper’s Magazine.

Batman and Robin have an altercation

By Stephen King

Sanderson sees his father twice a week. On Wednesday evenings, after he closes the jewelry store his parents opened long ago, he drives the three miles to Crackerjack Manor and sees Pop there, usually in the common room. In his “suite,” if Pop is having a bad day. On most Sundays, Sanderson takes him out to lunch. The facility where Pop is living out his final foggy years is actually called the Harvest Hills Special Care Unit, but to Sanderson, Crackerjack Manor seems more accurate.
