Classic-Looking Spider-Man Costume To Be Featured In Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23125:]]

Yesterday saw the news hit that Tom Holland will be suited up as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War.

Now it’s become known they are using the classic-looking Spider-Man costume.

While it’s been rumored Marvel may have gone with the red and black costume for Civil War, the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly spills the beans that it’s the classic colors, red and blue.

So it’s a surprise to see Downey on the Pinewood backlot, strolling around with his arm slung around the shoulders of a young actor by the name of Tom Holland, who just happens to be wearing an iconic red-and-blue bodysuit. You may have heard of him. He’s the new Spider-Man.

Following Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland will star in the untitled Sony Spider-Man movie due out in 2017.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Spider-Man Will Be Suited Up In Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23102:]]

We’ve known Tom Holland has filmed scenes for Captain America: Civil War, and we even have an idea of what one of the scenes involves.

Now it’s confirmed that Tom Holland will suit up as Spider-Man – not just Peter Parker – in Captain America: Civil War.

EW.com revealed new Captain America: Civil War images with the information that when they attended a set visit, they saw an actor dressed as Spider-Man of which both Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr. seemingly confirmed.

“Listen, if there was a cosplayer running around that set when you were there, I don’t know what to tell you,” Feige said.

Robert Downey Jr. added:  “[Don] Cheadle and I are just going, ‘Wow, dude, look at this.’ We’re now like the old guard, and our storyline carries real weight just because of our history in the [canon]. But we’re also looking around like, ‘Who thought that Falcon and Black Panther and Ant-Man and now Spider-Man…?’ I mean it’s like wow, this thing is just crazy.”

However, Chris Evans was quick to note things could always change.

“You never know with Marvel,” Chris Evans said. “Sometimes they shoot things and then don’t use them.”

The articles continues specifically noting, “So, yes: Spider-Man is in Civil War,” which follows with director Joe Russo talking Tom Holland:

“We did two screen tests with the character. We were pretty vocal about who we wanted for the part,” Joe Russo offered about Holland. “He’s fantastic. Amazing. It’s like Christian Bale in Empire of the Sun. Rarely do you see a kid carry a movie like that. He’s also a dancer and a gymnast. He fits the part like you can’t believe. Another thing that we were really pushing for was to go young with the part. It’s the only way to differentiate it from what’s been done in the past. Get him as close as you can to the age that [the actor] is.”

Robert Downey Jr. Dresses As Tigger For Young Fan Suffering From Cystic Fibrosis

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22649:]]

Robert Downey Jr. continues to prove he is the hero of choice, which may not bode well for Captain America this coming March.

The mother of a young fan suffering from cystic fibrosis has posted on Instagram stating there is nothing her son would like better than to meet the real life Iron Man.

“This is my son Daniel and he has cystic fibrosis.” Vicky Keyte said. “He is seven years old and wants nothing more to meet his idol Robert Downey Jr (aka iron man) as he has managed to get past the bullies he faces from day to day by telling them the he too has a extra special port in his chest much like iron man has his arc reactor, I am sharing this in hope that mr stark (as Daniel calls him out of the suit) could find a way to contact me on here as Daniel could really do with a little lift at the moment after a child at school has told him that all children with cf die. If this reaches him and Daniel could get a reply I hope that it could help him through his stay in hospital as it is starting to take its toll on him.”

Robert Downey Jr. has taken notice of the request and reached out to invite young Daniel to the premiere of Captain America: Civil War — dressed as Tigger from Winnie the Poo.

“Mr. Stark here. This is for Daniel (@envy_coatings) who was having a rough day recently. When I’m in the dumps, I’ve found this little getup to be helpful. P.S. Would you like to come to the LA premiere of Captain America: Civil War as my guest? If so, have your people call my people. All the best.”

Robert Downey Jr. is known for his charitable superhero deeds as in the past the actor has surprised kids at a PAL premiere of Iron Man 3, surprised kids at a Comic-Con costume contest, and gave a bionic arm to a 7-year-old.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Details Behind Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Casting

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21144:]]

Earlier today saw Marvel and Sony announce 19-year-old English actor Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man with Jon Watts set to direct the film.

Now Variety reports on the inside decision as to how both Watts and Holland were chosen.

TOM HOLLAND

According to the report, following “underwhelming” meetings with unknown actors, the search for a new Spider-Man was widened to include actors with a “somewhat” proven track record, with Asa Butterfield, Charlie Rowe, Matthew Lintz and Tom Holland becoming the frontrunners. The list was eventually narrowed to two favorites with Lowe and Holland.

Tom Holland became the choice by Marvel and Sony as it’s said Holland was an already established name who proved he could hold his own alongside bigger-named stars such as when Holland starred in The Impossible with Ewan McGreggor and Naomi Watts.

It’s further said Tom Holland is at an age in which he is still young enough that he will be able to play a teenage Spider-Man for years to come (Marvel’s Kevin Feige stated the new Peter Parker is in high school), and that the decision for an adult teenage actor was made in part due to the studios not wanting to deal with child labor laws that restrict the lengths of film shoots.

JON WATTS

Regarding Jon Watts, the report mentions Ted Melfi (St. Vincent), Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies), John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Vacation) were also potential contenders to direct Spider-Man as their experience on the comedic side as well as use of younger actors made them stand out choices.

It’s said, apparently Levine and Melfi became frustrated with the process, and Marvel/Sony was worried it would carry over to the Spider-Man movie production, which ended up opening the job up for Watts. In addition, Watts’ work on Cop Car is said to have earned him bonus points as the film received rave reviews at Sundance.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

While the Marvel and Sony official announcement made no mention of Tom Holland appearing as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, the report states Holland is expected to make an appearance “in order to properly introduce him into the Marvel film universe.”

Holland’s appearance in Captain America: Civil War is said to only be a small cameo as it’s mentioned Holland will only be needed for a week of filming.

Update: THR is reporting that Tom Holland had a screen test with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, and that Tony Stark/Iron Man will share scenes with Peter Parker/Spider-Man. It’s said Marvel was looking for chemistry between the actors and Holland.

Tom Holland recently finished filming “In The Heart Of The Sea” (out December 11th), which stars The Avengers’ Thor actor Chris Hemsworth (pictured above via USA Today).

“Captain America: Civil War” has a May 6, 2016 release; the new “Spider-Man” movie is due out July 28, 2017.

Robert Downey Jr. Says Mark Ruffalo Is In Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21021:]]

Mark Ruffalo recently teased that Robert Downey Jr. said he heard the Hulk actor was coming out to the set of Captain America: Civil War, and now Ruffalo states his science brother buddy has said he is in the movie.

Mark Ruffalo recently spoke with HitFix where Ruffalo offers Robert Downey Jr. told him he is in Captain America: Civil War.

“If Robert Downey Jr. says I’m in Captain America, I’m in Captain America, dammit,” Ruffalo said. “And I will wait for the day that my call sheet [or my script] shows up on my doorstep.”

As Mark Ruffalo mentions, he hasn’t been officially told by Marvel (at least that we know) whether or not he is in the movie, but Mark Ruffalo seems pretty confident the Hulk will appear.

“At this point, I’m told that I’m in it by Robert, which I’ll take as biblical, but I just haven’t heard or seen from production yet.”

While we do wait for the official announcement, a hint that the Hulk may be appearing comes as a result of the inclusion of William Hurt, who will be reprising as General Thunderbolt Russ from the 2008 Incredible Hulk movie.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Mark Ruffalo & Robert Downey Jr. Tease Hulk For Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20963:]]

The big question following The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is where did Banner and the Hulk go off to?

But perhaps the bigger question is will the Hulk appear in Captain America: Civil War?

As of right now, the Hulk is the only Avenger that has yet to make a confirmed appearance in another Marvel movie.

No Hulk solo movie is being planned as there is a rights issue over the character having standalone movies with Universal Studios.

Now we hear from Mark Ruffalo who offers hope that the Hulk might be featured in Captain America: Civil War.

While Ruffalo spoke to the Daily Beast stating he still doesn’t know if the Hulk will make an appearance:

“I don’t know! I heard a rumor about that the other day. I haven’t seen a script, nobody’s told me, and I don’t have dates. But I can only hope so!”

Ruffalo does go on to say that Robert Downey Jr. teased the following:

“I was talking to Robert Downey the other day, and he said, ‘Ruffalo! I heard you’re coming out here,’ and I said, ‘OK! I’ll be there,’” said Ruffalo, with a chuckle.

If indeed Ruffalo hasn’t read a script, it doesn’t necessarlily mean the Hulk won’t show up in Captain America: Civil War as the appearance could be small (such as at the end of the film), and it’s possible that Ruffalo might not be appearing as Banner, but the Hulk would be CGI.

Another rumor/fan-speculation going around the net is that the Hulk will appear – as the Red Hulk. Fans of the Marvel comics know that General Thunderbolt Ross is the Red Hulk; William Hurt returns to reprise Ross for Captain America: Civil War.

Another intersting tidbit is the following tweet Ruffalo posted last month:

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Robert Downey Jr. Calls Interviewer Bottom-Feeder & Parasite

RDJ walk out interview has over 8.4 million views on YouTube

Robert Downey Jr. recently walked out on an interview while promoting Avengers 2 following the interviewer switching gears and asking about RDJ’s personal life.

Now while speaking with Howard Stern (via THR), Robert Downey Jr. defended his actions: “I just wish I’d left sooner. I’m one of those guys where I’m always kind of assuming the social decorum is in play and that we’re promoting a superhero movie, a lot of kids are going to see it. This has nothing to do with your creepy, dark agenda that I’m feeling like all of a sudden ashamed and obligated to accommodate your weirdo shit.”

RDJ continues with mention he was weirded-out by the sudden shift in questioning, and calls the UK journalist, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, a bottom-feeder.

“I’m a 50-year-old guy … and I’m completely unevolved when it comes to simple boundaries,” RDJ added. “‘You know what? You’re weirding me out. You’re a bottom-feeding muckraker.'”

Robert Downey Jr. then questions whether he should be treated similar to a politician if he (or anyone) is being interviewed, while comparing the interviewer to something akin to a parasite.

“The assumption is that there’s a button that because you’ve sat down there, you’re going to be scrutinized like a kiddie fiddler who’s running for mayor,” RDJ said.

RDJ, a practitioner of Wing Chun Kung-Fu, warns he needs to distance himself or things might get out of hand.

“What I have to do in the future is I just have to give myself permission to say, ‘That is more than likely a syphilitic parasite, and I need to distance myself from this clown.’ Otherwise, I’m probably going to put hands on somebody, and then there’s a real story.”

Robert Downey Jr. Possibly Appearing In Spider-Man Movie? (Video)

With Spider-Man speculated to be first appearing in Captain America: Civil War, it’s possible the 2017 Spider-Man standalone move could feature Iron Man (especially if you are familiar with the comics).

Above you can check out an interview with Robert Downey Jr. from a couple of weeks ago where RDJ is asked about Spider-Man.

Robert Downey Jr. tells EOnline that he is “old school” and would rather have Peter Parker as the new Spider-Man over Miles Morales (Kevin Feige has since confirmed the new Spidey is Parker).

Robert Downey Jr. also says he would like Spider-Man to join The Avengers, and the article makes mention that RDJ might be featured in the standalone Spider-Man movie noting RDJ didn’t exactly deny the notion.

An actor has yet to be cast for Spider-Man, but five actors are rumored including Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalametand Liam James.

Robert Downey Jr. & Avengers 2 Cast Respond to Birdman’s Director’s Criticism (Video)

Check out the above video where Robert Downey Jr. and the cast of Avengers 2 respond to criticisms made by the director of Birdman, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.

If you are not familiar with Inarritu’s comments, the director stated superhero films are “cultural genocide” and “right wing.” Here’s the blub from the Deadline interview:

I sometimes enjoy them because they are basic and simple and go well with popcorn. The problem is that sometimes they purport to be profound, based on some Greek mythological kind of thing. And they are honestly very right wing. I always see them as killing people because they do not believe in what you believe, or they are not being who you want them to be. I hate that, and don’t respond to those characters. They have been poison, this cultural genocide, because the audience is so overexposed to plot and explosions and shit that doesn’t mean nothing about the experience of being human.

That’s what I am saying. Superheroes…just the word hero bothers me. What the fuck does that mean? It’s a false, misleading conception, the superhero. Then, the way they apply violence to it, it’s absolutely right wing. If you observe the mentality of most of those films, it’s really about people who are rich, who have power, who will do the good, who will kill the bad. Philosophically, I just don’t like them.

“The Avengers 2” hits May 1st.

Watch: Robert Downey Jr. Walks Out On Interview

This is a big-time a-hole move on the part of the interviewer.

Watch above as Robert Downey Jr. participates in an interview promoting The Avengers 2.

The interviewer mentions RDJ is here to promote the movie, but then asks if he can ask about RDJ personally.

We see that RDJ gets rather uncomfortable and looks over to (whom I am guessing) is his publicist or PR person (who should have stopped the interview right there).

RDJ replies to the interviewer he has as much time as anyone, with the interviewer remarking they have 3 minutes left on their agreed upon time allotment.

The interviewer then asks Robert Downey Jr. about his past with drugs and alcohol – and asks if he is free of all of that.

The camera even zooms in on RDJ’s face as we see RDJ getting obviously more and more uncomfortable.

Robert Downey Jr. then questions – “what are we doing?” – and ends the interview.

It is a rather d— move on the part of the interviewer. Sure, you can argue he can ask whatever he wants, but these type of interviews are set-up beforehand and used for promotional purposes. We even see the interviewer mention the purpose of the interview is for promoting the movie, and they had a specified amount of time. Notice how the cameraman recognizes how uncomfortable RDJ is getting as he zooms in on his face at that moment? I believe the interviewer is known for being a d—-bag and had run-ins with Tarantino and Godfrey Bloom; RDJ and his people maybe should have skipped this guy.

The interviewer, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, does, however, claim on Twitter they discussed the questioning with RDJ’s PR people stating, “We’d told the PR we’d like to talk about the movie and his life.”

Obviously “life” could mean a whole hell of a lot.

Robert Downey Jr Teases Big Avengers Announcement Again

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19932:]]

Maybe this is the big announcement Robert Downey Jr. previously teased?

If you recall, RDJ took this his Facebook page a little over a month ago to tease a big announcement was coming.

However, the 8 days RDJ teased came and went and all we got was a Marvel social network employee making excuses.

Now Robert Downey Jr. is back at it (or his social network people) as the official RDJ Twitter account has teased a big Avengers announcement for tomorrow.

The good news is this time the info is backed up by Good Morning America as apparently the big Avengers announcement will be made on the ABC show (Disney owns ABC).

In addition, the Twitter accounts of Robert Downey Jr., Good Morning America and Marvel included teaser images, which appear to be Iron Man, Hawkeye and Captain America related.

The images also appear to have some sort of text.

Any ideas? Maybe the start of production for Captain America: Civil War?

Update: The announcement has been revealed to be another announcement.
