[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22346:]]

On top of the new Black Panther series, Marvel Comics has announced a new Power Man and Iron Fist series releasing the first cover and character art.

Writer David F. Walker (Shaft, Cyborg) and artist Sanford Greene (The Runaways, Uncanny Avengers) are on board the project that reunites Danny Rand with Luke Cage, which will hit in 2016.

“David and Sanford are both extremely well versed in the background of these characters, the world they’re from,” Marvel Comics Editor Jacob Thomas told Fast Company. “But they’re also bringing their own style to this. Expect some solid, old-school Marvel characters—both enemies and allies like, say, Tombstone and Black Mariah—to show up.”

Luke Cage Keeping Under The Radar In Netflix Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19553:]]

One of the most anticipated characters to debut on the Marvel Netflix shows is Luke Cage, who will first be appearing in Jessica Jones before the standalone series.

Halo: Nightfall‘s Mike Colter is playing Luke Cage, who offers up some tidbits while talking with the UK’s The List.

Marvel actually gives you a special training class in how not to say too much in interviews [laughs]. We’re in the middle of shooting AKA Jessica Jones and Luke Cage is a very interesting character who just happens to have super strength and unbreakable skin. He’s a neighborhood hero, very much linked to New York and Jessica Jones. It’s all part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Luke Cage is a darker, grittier, more tangible character than Iron Man or Thor. He likes to keep things close to his chest, operate on the hush-hush. He has these abilities but he’s not sure how and when to use them. He’s a very nuanced character.

Colter also previously said Luke Cage is geared more toward adults, which will be a differen take than the MCU.

The Jessica Jones series is set to debut later this year starring Krysten Ritter as the titular character, David Tennant as Kilgrave, Rachael Taylor as Trish and Carrie-Anne Moss in an unknown role

Jessica Jones Synopsis:

After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.

Luke Cage Series Is Geared Toward Adults Says Mike Colter

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19482:]]

While speaking about the Halo series, Mike Colter lets it be known the new Luke Cage Marvel Netflix series is being aimed at adults.

“It’s geared towards an adult audience, which is something that will be different from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that you’ve seen before on the big screen,” Mike Colter told IGN.

Colter, who plays Locke in the Halo: Nightfall series, continues with mention how excited he is to play the role.

“I’m excited about playing the character because I’ve read the comic books,” Colter said. “They’re very detailed, gritty; the world they’ve written in the comic books is very clear. Marvel does a fantastic job about bringing human stories – because you’re telling big stories with a heart at the center of it – and that’s what connects all of the characters to our audience members. Audience members have to feel connected with these characters, to make them relate to the character’s situations and that’s what you see with all of the Marvel characters.”

Colter will first be appearing in the Jessica Jones series before Luke Cage launches, and Colter says he is happy with what he sees.

“What I’m most excited about is touching on what makes him tick. It feels good to get a character that has such a story, background, and history,” Colter offered. “And when I look at the scripts, I’m really pleased with it because it’s a slow-burn; there’s nothing happening really fast that gets ahead of itself. I’m really with where they’re taking it and how they’re developing the characters, because it’s really cool and it’s geared towards an adult audience, which is something that will be different from the Marvel Cinematic Universe you’ve seen before on the big screen.”

Colter also offers the following about the series approach, which will be different than some of the Marvel movies.

“We have a more gritty, focused story on our heroes and characters that live in New York City, but it’s geared towards a more adult audience and I think that’s the thing about the series that will be different.”

Daredevil premiers on April 10th which launches the Marvel Netflix shows.

Terry Crews Wants To Play Silver Surfer

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18954:]]

With Mike Colter Marvel’s choice of Luke Cage, Terry Crews now states he wants to play another Marvel superhero.

Crews, in a Reddit fan QnA, states it’s the Silver Surfer.

You know?

Again… it’s hard to pick a favorite super-hero. I always did love Luke Cage, and I’m really, really happy about who they cast in the Netflix version of Luke Cage. So that’s something that’s already done. But you know who else I’d like to play? The Silver Surfer. I always LOVED – I thought I had the build, the body, I could get on that surfboard, and if they ever do a live-action version of Silver Surfer, I think that would be perfect for me.

In the comics, the character of Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd, happened to be a white guy, but as we’ve seen recently, the question of color doesn’t really matter.

Michael B. Jordan is playing the Human Torch for Fox, which also owns the rights to Silver Surfer. Perhaps along with the Fantastic Four reboot, a new Silver Surfer could be onboard as well.
