Sigourney Weaver Revealed For Defenders Villain

Sigourney Weaver Revealed For Defenders Villain

Sigourney Weaver is playing the villain role in the upcoming Defenders event series for Marvel and Netflix that features Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist.

Now Marvel TV has released a first look at Sigourney Weaver in Defenders in addition to the revelation of her role (via EW).

Sigourney Weaver is playing Alexandra, described by showrunner Marco Ramirez as an “utter badass.”

“Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower. Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.” Ramirez said before stopping himself short of revealing full character details. “I’m sorry. I can only say a bunch of adjectives right now.”

Ramirez also states Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra is on par with big bads such as Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in Daredevil.

“We knew it would take something massive to pull these four characters from their individual worlds to work together,” Ramirez said. “But also small enough that it felt like it existed in our world.”

Many fans are hoping that Sigourney Weaver is playing Mephisto or Satana Hellstrom. Any ideas who Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra might really be?

Update: Marvel TV also released a batch of Defenders preview images.

Defenders will premiere on Netflix in 2017 with eight episodes.

Synopsis:

“Marvel’s The Defenders” follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
