With the Ghostbusters reboot out in theaters this week, now seems like a good time for the Ghostbusters 2 Honest Trailers treatment from the Screek Junkies YouTube channel.
Ghostbusters 2 was released in 1989 and made just over $215 million at the box office. The first movie made almost $300 million.
While the Ghostbusters reboot might not be afraid of no ghosts, is seems the fans are afraid of at least the Ghostbusters reboot merchandise.
A user on Twitter (via flyckering myth) posted a pic of a Ghostbusters reboot action figure at a retail store already on clearance, and the movie hasn’t even come out.
Ghostbusters has seens its share of trials and tribulations as not only has the movie’s trailer scored the most thumbs down on YouTube, but the director and cast have consistently been forced to defend the film taking aim at the haters.
An early screening apparently also took place, which saw one user on Reddit blast the movie for being a male-hater film (warning: major spoilers).
Ghostbusters opens next week, we’ll see how Rotten Tomatoes and the box office treat it.

The Ghostbusters Ecto Force animated series is also announced with details mentioning it will take place in the future, the year 2050.

In a move signaling an expansion of its output and increased year-round production across multiple platforms, Sony Pictures Animation announced today its slate through 2018 which includes five theatrical features, three television series and one direct-to-video movie.

THEATRICAL FEATURES
SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE—a fully-animated comedy that delivers a fresh new take on the famous blue creatures and marks a return to the tone and style of the beloved comic book creations of Peyo—hits theaters April 7, 2017. The feature is directed by Kelly Asbury (SHREK 2, GNOMEO & JULIET), produced by Jordan Kerner (THE SMURFS 1 & 2, CHARLOTTE’S WEB), co-produced by Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews (HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA) and written by Stacey Harman and Pamela Ribon, based on the characters and works of Peyo. THE STAR (working title) is scheduled for a December 8, 2017 theatrical release. The computer-animated feature is directed by Oscar nominee Timothy Reckart (HEAD OVER HEELS); executive produced by DeVon Franklin, Lisa Henson, and Brian Henson; co-produced by Jenni Magee Cook; and written by Carlos Kotkin and Simon Moore. HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3—the follow-up to Sony Pictures Animation’s highest grossing film in the U.S. and the biggest opening ever for a domestic September release —is scheduled to hit theaters September 21, 2018. Director Genndy Tartakovsky (DEXTER’S LABORATORY, STAR WARS: CLONE WARS), who returns to helm this brand new adventure, says, “I thought I was done exploring the world of HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA after the first two films, but while I was away from the franchise finishing my TV show SAMURAI JACK, an idea sparked that I got really excited about and made it irresistible to return and helm myself this third adventure.” Michelle Murdocca is back producing, with Adam Sandler executive producing, and Michael McCullers (AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME, BOSS BABY) writing the screenplay. ANIMATED SERIES
A brand new animated television series, GHOSTBUSTERS: ECTO FORCE, will further expand the Ghostbusters cinematic universe and focus on a new generation of Ghostbusters in the year 2050 who capture ghosts around the world with help from local teams—and some very cool gear! The younger-skewing Sony Pictures Animation project is being creatively spearheaded by Ivan Reitman and his production company Ghost Corps. GHOSTBUSTERS: ECTO FORCE is eyeing an early 2018 debut. HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA: THE TELEVISION SERIES is targeted for a 2017 airdate. The animated television series, produced in partnership with Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, will focus on the teenage years of Mavis, Dracula’s daughter, and her friends. It will be airing on the Disney Channel worldwide.
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS is slated for its television series incarnation airdate in 2017. The 2D animated small-screen series, produced in partnership with DHX Media and commissioned by TELETOON in Canada, will expand on the adventures of the computer-animated feature films and will air on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and Turner channels across EMEA, APAC and Latin American markets.

SURF’S UP 2: WAVEMANIA will debut on home entertainment in the Spring of 2017. Directed by Henry Yu and produced by Michelle Wong, the follow-up to the 2007 Oscar nominee will hit the shores in time for the 10-year anniversary of the franchise. The project is in partnership with WWE Studios (NYSE:WWE) and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. So if you are on the fence about seeing it, or even loathe the idea of Hollywood remaking another classic, no worries as you won’t have to drop a dime to go see the movie.
Actually, someone else might pay for you to go see it.
Ghostbusters reboot producer Judd Apatow recently said in an interview that he equates the Ghostbusters reboot haters with the same people that support Donald Trump. So from that we can assume he is either a Hillary Clinton supporter or a Bernie Sanders supporter. That means free movies for all, and that he doesn’t want you to pay.
“I would assume there’s a very large crossover of people who are doubtful Ghostbusters will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy,” Apatow told Uproxx. “I would assume they are the exact same people. That movie is made by the great Paul Feig and stars the funniest people on Earth, so I couldn’t be more excited. I think people have paid too much attention to just some angry trolls.”
“And it will be judged on its own greatness,” he continued. “I don’t think anything really matters the way you think it does. The movie comes out, and it will be great, and people will just be happy to have it. It’s not like anybody really cares about a couple of idiots who hold onto the idea that things never evolve.”
Marvel’s Mark Ruffalo also insinutated fans may get to see Thor 3 free as well.

Dan Aykroyd says he saw a cut of the Ghostbusters movie and seemingly offers it’s better than the original.
“As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it! As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I’m paying to see that and bringing all my friends!”
In addition to Bill Murray, it’s been said that Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Aykroyd himself have cameos.

Not only is the first Ghostbusters trailer the least liked in YouTube history, but instead of releasing the second trailer again through YouTube, Sony decided to post the second Ghostbusters trailer on their official Facebook page so as to avoid the dislikes.
Now Melissa McCarthy has added more of her two cents in a new interview by telling the Ghostbusters haters to find a friend.
“All those comments – ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really,” she said to the Guardian (via EW) “Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood? I have a visual of those people not having a [husband], not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the Internet. I just hope they find a friend.”
McCarthy did previously come out and reveal she wasn’t in favor of the first Ghostbusters trailer. She brought up the point it has nothing to do with the original movie (which the trailer mentioned), but Sony told her they didn’t care what she thought.
Maybe they should have.

It probably didn’t go over too well with Sony brass when the director of their new Ghosbusters reboot seemingly insulted every fan on the planet.
“Geek culture is home to some of the biggest a–holes I’ve ever met in my life,” Feig is quoted as stating.
Now, however, it’s being said Paul Feig made those comments last year, and that the comments were taken out of context.
The NYDailyNews has since updated their article to make a correction noting the comments were from last year, and Feig has updated with the following (read Feig’s full comment in the tweet below):
“My quote was in answer to the question, ‘Has the paradigm shifted to a point where (because geek culture is currently so popular) the geek is the asshole now? I very much regret saying in my answer that I had actually met any assholes from the geek community. I have never met anyone from the geek world face-to-face who wasn’t a warm, kind person.
The a–holes of which I speak are the ones who live online, who write those hateful tweets and posts and comments. I’m not talking about the people who have true concerns and worries about the rebooting of a franchise they love, nor am I talking about people who have watched the trailer for our movie and didn’t like it. Those are all valid opinions and I respect them all. I am talking about those that write misogyny and hate and threats. Those are the assholes of which I spoke.
The bullies are not the norm and I would dare say they are not even true geeks,. They are the micro minority. God bless the true geeks of the world and here’s to taking our community back from the bullies.

Ghostbusters reboot director Paul Feig is back at it — cussing at the internet fans.
Feig previously told Ghostbusters reboot “trolls” to go f’ themselves, and now offers more.
“Geek culture is home to some of the biggest a-holes I’ve ever met in my life,” Feig told the Daily News. “Especially after being attacked by them for months because of this ‘Ghostbusters’ project.”
Feig is probably also upset by the fact that the Ghostbusters reboot trailer is the most disliked movie trailer on the internet ever. Even Melissa McCarthy wasn’t a fan.
I’ll also add, in defense of the “trolls,” that a lot of fans are simply upset by fact that the original Ghostbusters movie is getting remade and their beloved characters replaced, not just because the reboot features females.
It will be interesting to see how well or not the movie performs at the box office this Summer, something which Feig can thank the internet fans for, eh?

It turns out not only is practically all the internet not a fan of the Ghostbusters reboot trailer, but Melissa McCarthy had her doubts as well.
Melissa McCarthy, who plays Abby Yates, said she found the Ghostbusters trailer “very confusing.”
“It’s a reboot not a remake,” McCarthy said on The John, Jay & Rich Show. “I know its weird that they say [in the trailer] ‘30 years ago’, but in this movie its like the first one didn’t happen. It’s a great story but it’s told totally differently. It’s four unlikely heroes, it’s in New York City, ghosts are taking over; it’s that same classic story but it’s not 30 years later … it’s not dependent on the first one.”
McCarthy also makes it known she raised the point of the new movie having nothing to do with the original Ghostbusters, but Sony ignored her concerns.
“Believe me the question was asked,” McCarthy said. “I think that it’s very confusing. But then everyone said we don’t care what you think.”
The Ghostbusters trailer is currently the trailer with the most thumbs down on YouTube of all time: currently at 685, 715 dislikes.

Activision Publishing, Inc., in collaboration with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, has announced a pair of new Ghostbusters video games set in and inspired by the comedic action world of the upcoming Ghostbusters film, in theaters on the July 15th. Taking place after the events of the new movie, both Ghostbusters games introduce new casts of rookies keeping watch over the station while the now-famous Ghostbusters tour the country stopping high-profile poltergeists. When paranormal phenomena unleash apparitions across New York City, these new squads of recruits must don their proton packs and wrestle those rogue spirits back to the afterlife!
The console game, Ghostbusters, is a third-person action role-playing game positively charged for thrilling couch co-op with up to four players locally. As rookie Ghostbusters, players can level up their characters’ gear and abilities by tackling objectives, defeating ghastly creatures and discovering hidden collectibles in Manhattan’s most haunted haunts. There are four heroes to choose from, and each has his or her own unique personality and play style, bringing special strengths to support the team.
Ghostbusters is expected to arrive on the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and Windows PC via Steam on July 15th.
The mobile game, Ghostbusters: Slime City, lets players be a Ghostbuster and save New York City from a new wave of threats. Team up with other players in asynchronous co-op, and collect powerful ghosts to rise to the top of the leaderboards. Players can also craft their own proton packs from any number of combinations of components, as well as upgrade their own headquarters and complete jobs around the city for new weapons and rewards.
Ghostbusters: Slime City is expected to launch in July on select iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices via the App Store, select Android devices via Google Play and select Kindle devices through the Amazon Appstore.

LEGO Dimensions Powers Up Gameplay with Midway Arcade Level Pack and Three Fun Packs Based on DC Comics and Ghostbusters
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today the release of the new LEGO Dimensions Midway Arcade Level Pack and highly collectable DC Comics Superman, DC Comics Aquaman and Ghostbusters Stay Puft Fun Packs. Players can customise their building and gaming adventures in LEGO Dimensions with the purchase of these Wave 4 expansion packs which provide additional gameplay, buildable characters, and rebuildable 3-in-1 vehicles and gadgets with special in-game abilities. All expansion packs provide gamers the opportunity to use everything interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game, for a crazy mash-up multiverse.
The Midway Arcade Level Pack comes with a buildable Gamer Kid minifigure and G-6155 Spy Hunter vehicle and Arcade Machine – all playable in the game, and unlocks more than 20 classic arcade games from Midway Arcade as an exclusive level. These classic games include Seven Twenty, Badlands, Blasteroids, Championship Sprint, Defender, Defender II, Gauntlet, Gauntlet II, KLAX, Joust, Joust 2, Marble Madness, Paperboy, Rampage, Road Blasters, Robron, Spyhunter, SuperSprint, Timber, Toobin, Cyberball, Vindicators and Xybots.
To get started, players attach Gamer Kid to his LEGO Toy Tag and place him on the LEGO Toy Pad to bring him to life in the game, where he can help them put rogue Midway Arcade characters back where they belong. Players can activate Gamer Kid’s Stealth, Laser, Speed, Invulnerability, and Super Strength abilities to solve puzzles and battle enemies. When things get dangerous, players can boost their gameplay with the G-6155 Spy Hunter which can be rebuilt into The Interdiver and Aerial Spyhunter, or the Arcade Machine which rebuilds into the 8-Bit Shooter and The Pixilator Pod for upgraded in-game abilities. Gamer Kid also unlocks the Midway Arcade Adventure World to provide players with additional open-world gameplay.
The DC Comics Superman Fun Pack includes a buildable Superman minifigure and Hover Pod. Players can bring the Man of Steel to life in the game and activate his Flying, Dive, Invulnerability, Laser Deflector, Freeze Breath, X-Ray Vision, and Super Strength abilities to solve puzzles and overpower enemies. The Hover Pod will boost gameplay, and can be rebuilt into a Krypton Striker and Super Stealth Pod for upgraded in-game abilities.
The DC Comics Aquaman Fun Pack features a buildable Aquaman minifigure and Aqua Watercraft. Players can dive into gameplay as the King of the Seven Seas and activate his special Dive, Growth, Atlantis and Hazard Cleaner abilities to solve puzzles and take down rivals. The Aqua Watercraft comes in handy for swift getaways, and can be rebuilt into a Seven Seas Speeder and Trident of Fire for upgraded powers in the game.
The Ghostbusters Stay Puft Fun Pack comes with the first-ever buildable Stay Puft minifigure and Terror Dog. Players can become everyone’s favourite marshmallow man and activate his Hazard Protection, Big Transform and Super Strength abilities to solve puzzles and battle enemies. The Terror Dog can be called in as back-up and rebuilt as the Terror Dog Destroyer and Soaring Terror Dog for upgraded powers in the game. The pack also allows access to the Ghostbusters Adventure World where gamers can play as any one of the four Ghostbusters characters.

Sony recently debuted the new female Ghostbusters trailer, which hasn’t been all that well received.
If you check out the official Sony YouTube, the Ghostbusters trailer actually has more dislikes than likes: close to 300,000 dislikes to around 140,000 likes. It’s even being suggested the Sony PR team is deleting negative comments, but there are just too many to keep up with.
That said, indie film director Bevan Bell went out and recut the Ghostbusters trailer adding in the original Ray Parker Jr. music score and taking out some of the jokes and footage that didn’t go over well. You can check out the recut trailer above.
