Seemingly taking a page out of Marvel Comics, now Disney is rebooted The Rocketeer movie which will feature a young African–American female pilot.
THR reported on the news offering the description of The Rocketeer reboot:
“The new take keeps the story in a period setting and offers a fresh view on the characters. Set six years after the original Rocketeer and after Secord has vanished while fighting the Nazis, an unlikely new hero emerges: a young African–American female pilot, who takes up the mantle of Rocketeer in an attempt to stop an ambitious and corrupt rocket scientist from stealing jetpack technology in what could prove to be a turning point in the Cold War.”
The Rocketeer reboot/sequel wil be written by Max Winkler and Matt Spicer, and is produced by The Jungle Book‘s Brigham Taylor and sports athletes L.A. Clippers Power forward Blake Griffin and Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil.
The Rocketeer first appeared in the pages of Pacific Comics created by Dave Stevens in 1982 with the story set in 1938 when stunt pilot Cliff Secord comes into the possession of an experimental jetpack that allows him to take his fight for justice to the skies.
The first Rocketeer movie was released in 1991 from director Joe Johnston starring Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin, Timothy Dalton, Paul Sorvino and Terry O’Quinn.
In addition to the Wonder Woman poster, art for Spider-Man, The Avengers, Marvel and Star Wars is featured at the 2016 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.

Disney has announced that the 2017 D23 Expo will move to the month of July, which is also the month held by the San Diego Comic-Con.
The 2017 D23 Expo wil take place the weekend of July 14–16. Previous years saw the Disney 23 Expo take place in August.
Comic-Con has yet to announce a date for 2017, but this year sees Comic-Con international held July 21-24; last year it was held July 9-12.
Disney announced the following regarding the D23 Expo (held every two years) which mentions Star Wars and Marvel.
Disney kept Marvel Studios out of last year’s Comic-Con, obviously to promote the material at their D23, which saw announcements for Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man, Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange panels, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars and more. Disney has Star Wars: Episode VIII and Thor 3 out later that year in 2017, so it’s possible we could get some new footage from those movies, with the potential for teases from the 2018 Black Panther movie and Avengers: Infinity War as well.

StagePass, the popular ticket distribution system that allows attendees to obtain guaranteed seats for some of Expo’s most popular presentations, and StorePass, which allows priority entry to select shopping venues at the event, will once again enhance the guest experience. Hall D23, the popular presentation and performance venue featuring more than 7,000 seats, will return, as will Stage 23, Stage 28, and Center Stage.
The fifth event follows the success of D23 Expo 2015, where guests were treated to appearances by such celebrities as Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Evans, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Dwayne Johnson and watched performances by Ne-Yo, Sabrina Carpenter, the cast of Teen Beach 2, and stars of Disney’s shows on Broadway. D23 Members will receive special pricing on both one- and three-day tickets to the event, which is open to the general public. Following the success of the R-Rated Fox Studios Deadpool movie, will Marvel Studios follow suit?
What should come as no surprise, the answer is no.
Disney CEO Bob Iger commented on the success of the Deadpool movie today at a Disney shareholder meeting and said Marvel will not be making any R-rated movies.
A reporter for the LA Times was on hand and tweeted about it.
“We don’t have any plans to make R-rated Marvel movies,” Iger says in response to a shareholder comment about Fox’s hit film, “Deadpool.”

While Marvel Studios doesn’t plan on any R-rated superhero movies, Fox has already greenlit the sequel for Deadpool; it’s being reported the next Wolverine and possibly X-Force could be R-Rated, and it’s been said Zack Snyder has an R-Rated Batman Vs. Superman director’s cut coming out on Blu-Ray for WB.
Following the popular Big Hero 6 animated movie, a new animated TV series is on its way to Disney XD in 2017.
The series picks up immediately following the events in the film. Hiro is the newest prodigy at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, and he faces daunting academic challenges …. not to mention the social trials of being the little man on campus. Off campus, the stakes are raised for Big Hero 6 as they must protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains.
The villains for the series are unknown, but Hiro will be joined by Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred, Go Go and Baymax .
