Wesley Snipes Wants Blade To Bite Scarlett Johansson

The past couple of Comic-Cons saw Wesley Snipes make mention he would do another Blade film, with most recently the actor teasing talks with Marvel, and now Snipes offers more while talking with the Huff Post.

“There’s always a possibility,” Snipes said about another Blade movie. “It’s in Marvel’s hands, and they are controlling the pace and flow with that. Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it,. I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see where it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.”

The interview continues with mention of Blade being featured in an Avengers movie, with Snipes noting Blade would have to bite someone and jokes it should be Black Widow.

“That would be interesting,” Snipes replied about Blade and the Avengers. “I mean, I know it’s in the comic book. It would be interesting to see where they would place him and where he really would fit in. He’s got to bite somebody. I don’t know who he’s going to bite… Scarlett Johansson [laughs].”

The most recent rumors surrounding Blade have suggested a new female Blade movie, and Snipes has even teased playing a different character that could go toe to toe with Blade.

Female Blade Marvel Movie Rumored

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21849:]]

While Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow doesn’t look to be getting a movie any time soon, it’s being rumored that Marvel Studios may be going forth with a female Blade movie.

There has been talk as of late regarding Wesley Snipes returning for a role at Marvel, which now may be for the female Blade movie.

Bleeding Cool cites sources in the know that state the reason for the delay in launching the new female Blade Marvel Comics comic book is because the character will be featured in a new Blade movie.

It’s suggested that Snipes may return for a possible fatherly role.

Blade launched back in 1998 becoming a billion dollar franchise and spawning sequels. The rights recently reverted back to Marvel, so if the rumors are true, Marvel may be further diversifying their line with a female Blade flick. Presently, Marvel only has Captain Marvel in the works as their sole female movie project.

Another possibility is the female Blade project may actually be a Netflix series, as Snipes previously hinted at being involved with Netflix as well.

Wesley Snipes Teases New Character Who Can Take On Blade

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21693:]]

Back at last month’s Comic-Con saw Wesley Snipes tease a return to Marvel with possibly a Netflix series.

Blade stated he has another project possibly in the works “that’s going to rock’em,” and now we hear more from Snipes who further teased the project at the SDCC.

Snipes spoke with CBR at Comic-Con, who finally published the interview, with Snipes mentioning if he doesn’t do another Blade, there is another character he may go with.

Well, we’ve had some discussions. We have had very positive and favorable discussions about the Blade character and other things they have in mind. We’ll see where it goes. For those Blade fans, if we never reprise Blade, I have another character that will stand toe to toe with Blade any day. It’s not done yet.

It should be noted that both times Snipes doesn’t specifically refer to the character as being a part of Marvel, just that the character can go “toe to toe” with Blade.

Is it possible Wesley Snipes is up for a DC role in their new Expanded Universe?

Or is Snipes in talks for another Marvel role? Any ideas who?

Wesley Snipes Says More Blade Is A Strong Possibility; Teases Netflix (Video)

A couple of days ago saw Wesley Snipes mention he has been in talks with Marvel for more Blade, and now in the above video mentions a further possibility.

While promoting his latest TV series, The Player, IGN asks Wesley Snipes about more Blade.

“I can break this story right now,” Wesley Snipes said, which looks to be taken as sarcasm. “Marvel and I, Wesley Snipes, have decided to have further conversations doing another Blade.”

Snipes then took a slightly more serious approach continuing: “It’s a topic of conversation. It’s inescapable. They have their agenda. We have ours. We are both moving in an accelerated pace to create magic, so we’ll see if it all matches up. There’s a strong possibility, but if not, we have another project that’s going to rock ’em… that will stand toe-to-toe with Blade.”

With Snipes mentioning another project, he’s asked about having interest playing potential other characters, but is pretty mum.

“Yes, there are, but we’ll leave that for our next meeting,” Snipes said. “We’ll talk about that a little later.”

With Daredevil being such a success, Snipes is asked about the possibility of Blade appearing in some capacity on Netflix, with his answer perhaps hinting that is what the talks are about with Marvel.

“You mean Blade on Netflix without Wesley?” Snipes questioned with a laugh. “It will never work. I can’t see that working at all [laughs].”

Wesley Snipes Would Do Another Blade

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21292:]]

Wesley Snipes is currently at Comic-Con for his new TV series The Player where the actor also let it be known he is interested in doing another Blade movie.

Deadline spoke with Snipes who stated there have been talks.

The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.

Wesley Snipes also says another potential Marvel role could be seen some time down the road.

That’s a possibility too. I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t to a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else. We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful. The first season of The Player will be interesting as well because we have drama and action, which is what I like. It gives me a chance to do a number of different things.

Snipes also comments on whether the “tide is turning” with there being more African-American superheroes, such as Marvel’s Falcon and Black Panther.

I don’t know. It’s takes more than one situation to make it a trend. One wouldn’t qualify it as a trend or a real shift in the tides yet. We’ll have to see how well the films do and how well the characters are presented. Clearly there’s an audience for it, both domestically and internationally. And I know that only a few guys can do this, so it’s kind of hard. Not everybody can do the comic book adaptation thing and make it believable. It is challenging.

Blade kicked off in 1998 and became a billion dollar franchise, and with Doctor Strange being the start of the supernatural side of the MCU, perhaps there is room for more of Snipes as the vampire hunting superhero.
