Sydney Sweeney Punches Back At Online Trolls

Sydney Sweeney takes to social media to punch back at online trolls for saying bad things about her while she filmed the Christy Martin biopic.

The troll comments look to have originated from articles in the comment section at the Daily Mail, which are claimed to be moderated. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if they are bot comments and/or AI-generated.

Sydney Sweeney shows off the big guns

Sweeney put together a collection of the comments and then put them in a video (watch below). She trolled the the trolls by including images from her time training for the role of Christy Martin,  an American former professional boxer. TheDaily Mail article about this video has even more troll comments. One bozo doesn’t even know that Sydney Sweeney trained in martial arts and MMA since she was a kid questioning how could she get the role. Other comments say she doesn’t have a good body (lol).

What do the comments say?

The trolls comments offer things like “too pale and she needs to lose a few pounds around the middle.” Another says, “udderly ridiculous.” Another adds, “Whoever this individual is, she has a horrible body.” Another” “Let’s be real hear, the body is not that incredible, just saying…” Another: “Butterface!” Another says, “Not at all her best look. She is better off leaving herself to people’s imaginations.”

“Sorry for having great…”

The trolls also follow recent rude comments from an 80-year-old female Hollywood producer who said Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s hit rom-com Anybody But You is unwatchable. The producer said, “She’s not pretty, she can’t act” and questioned why people think she is so hot. Sweeney fired back, “Sorry for having great t-ts.”

Glen Powell also responded to the trolls on Sweeney’s video, “You’re such a badass. This movie is gonna be [fire emoji].”

Who is Christy Martin?

Christy Martin is a trailblazer in women’s boxing, having competed professionally from 1989 to 2012. She won the WBC female super welterweight title in 2009. In 2016, she made history as the first woman inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame. Later, in 2020, she was honored as part of the inaugural class of women inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Christy Martin biopic has wrapped

Two weeks ago, Sydney Sweeney announced filming has wrapped. No release date has been announced as of yet.

I don’t usually write a lot in my captions but this movie and experience I feel needs more than just a few words. We have wrapped filming Christy Martin’s story and it has been one of the most emotional, transformative experiences of my life. Christy’s journey is so deeply inspiring, and having her by my side during this process was nothing short of surreal. There were moments on set where I’d glance over at her standing by the monitors, cheering us on, and I’d just become so emotional. Knowing what she’s endured, what she’s pushed through to be there in that moment—it made me want to cry.

To the incredible crew in Charlotte—thank you for giving this project your everything. I’m going to miss you so much!! Your hard work, long hours, and dedication brought this story to life, and we couldn’t have done it without you. My castmates, especially Ben, thank you for your talent, your relentlessness, and for inspiring me to dig even deeper every single day. And David, our fearless aussie, thank you for being the steady, passionate leader we all leaned on.

This story is so much bigger than just a film. It’s a testament to resilience, survival, and finding the strength to keep fighting. I can’t wait for you all to see it—not only because I’m proud of the transformation and the work I’ve poured into it, but because Christy’s story deserves to be told. And yes, you’ll get to see me kick some serious ass (like seriously kicked some ass) ((like I might’ve enjoyed it a little toooooo much while kicking ass haha)), but most importantly, you’ll witness a story that’s as powerful as the woman who lived it. I’ll carry this experience with me forever. Can’t wait to share more 🙂
